Fursuit Friday Feature #20: REI

13307245_10153233685024159_3107172564065100828_n

It’s Friday!!!
it is Friday, the weekend is here, and that means that we get to have another Fursuit Friday Feature!!! Also, the best news is that this is our 20th Fursuit Feature on this blog!! Thank you so much to all the amazing people that have come together and have answered these questions talked to me on FB and otherwise so that I might go and show off your fantastic creatures to the world! It really has been an honor!

Also, I noticed that this is what people come to the blog for! This is what they look forward to when seeing any new post I make because they want to see if they or their friends were pulled from the hate and/or, they want to see the cute or crazy new suiter that I am showcasing. So many of you have shown off some amazing designs that made people want a Fursuit of their very own, so, thank you for being so awesome, being creative and just being you.

This week we have a Dutch Angel Dragon (I seem to get quite a few of those) named Rei!!! I was posting awhile ago about needing fursuiters for showcasing and for people to answer my new and improved interview sheets and Rei answered that call! So, after a few messages and an e-mail, Rei was saved to the folder where I randomly pick a name each week, and, here we are!!! Sorry it took so long to get to you Rei…but hey! You are lucky number 20!!!!

I love dutchies and love dragons just in general so these are always so fun for me…so I’m not going to ramble anymore, lets get to know Rei a little better!

1.Name: Jennifer McClellan

2. Character Name: Rei

3. Character Species: Dutch Angel Dragon

4. Fursuit Maker: I made him

5. Total Cost (optional)— $500 maybe $600

6. How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
Um it took me at least five month to finish him.

7. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
I always wanted one and at one time I tried to create one. But my boyfriend at the time really discouraged me from doing it so I gave up after that. Then I saw a video of Telephone and instantly fell in love again with fursuits. So I took the dive and bought all my supplies and got to work and here he is.

8. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences!
My favorite experience was actually not fully outside. When I started making Rei I hid it from my family except for my grandmother. I send her all my work in progress pictures and then when he was finish I facetimed her and showed him off.

9. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
Um, I haven’t been to any Cons yet. If there is anything closer towards the end of the year that are near Philadelphia I wouldn’t mind going, but I just plan on to Anthrocon next year.

10. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
It’s been pretty good to me except when this guy kept hitting me in the muzzle luckily my mother was around and cursed him before I had to say anything.

11. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
At first it was just to make one and say I have one but now I think I might work on my craft a little bit more and become a fursuit marker. Its fun making them I really wish I can get a following.

12. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
I’m normally am a hyper kind of person so I made my character a little like me. Rei is a little more quite then what I am and he is a little clumsy. But when the time comes he is there in your corner cheering you to success

13. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
Being able to bring a 2-D drawing to life and portray myself as my character.

14. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
The heat, it’s very hot in Philadelphia already so when I did wear him I was hot as hell. I think if I line the head differently it might make it better and fur in my mouth I hate that.

15. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit?
If you have time and money go ahead and commission for one. If you feel that you would do better by making it yourself then do it. But please take constructive criticism with a grain of salt, people are not trying to hurt you when they give it but you can tell what’s being rude and what’s being helpful.

16. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
I bought too much fur now I can make extra items like extra paws and extra feet… I kind of wish that my dragon had paws for feet instead of hooves but I just think I’m going to make them and just make them for indoor and have the hooves for outside.

17. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I plan on making a sergal towards the end of the year. But it will be a partial instead of a full suit I’m not finding my colors in full yards.

18. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
I plan on it; I might make a small dance video in a couple of weeks even though I’m not the best dancer (two left feet lol)

19. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this?:
Don’t get discourage, try and try again. No one is where they are in life by giving up on the first time

Rei is adorable and I have always loved black-and-white color schemes. I also hope tat if Jennifer makes the Sergal we can one day showcase that one too! Dutchies are really cute and seem to be very popular and a fan fave so…like Rei, I hope to showcase more of those in the future as well.

Really solid advice and really wonderful answers from Jennifer. So, I think this makes for a very good 20th Fursuit Friday Feature, don’t you? We are running low on Fursuiters to showcase which is why I have been trying to spread them out as much as possible. NO ONE and NOTHING IS TURNED DOWN! Whether you have a fullsuit, partial, quadsuit, or just a Fursuit head, it counts! Multiple fursuits is fine as we can do those all in one interview!

So, if you or a friend has a fursuit and would like to be featured, please leave a link down below where i might reach you so that I can send you the interview and such!

Thank you all so much for tuning in. Wondering what else to put in this blog so please, leave me any feedback on where to find things you might want to hear me write about, some topics you want to discuss, and etc.  I want to hear your opinions to please, let me know what’s up.

That’s all we have for this one and we will have another one next Friday. So, as always, i will see you all in the next blog 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #19: RAINBOWTAIL

13394061_1027768797308566_7720564233487112172_n

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Fursuit Friday Feature!!! I am very sorry to have missed last week, but, with my wife having Deployed, I kinda lost motivation and to take a hiatus. But, I’m back now and feeling much, much better.
Thanks to all the sweet fuzzbutts out there that sent me very lovely messages and such hoping I got to feeling better soon, you are all awesome!

But, with that being said, I am back and need to get back to business…and what better what than showcasing another Fursuit on everyone’s favorite day!!!!

As you all know, I love the unique characters that are in this fandom, and i especially love ones with bright and crazy colors. Well, Rainbowtail nails that one on the head as he has plenty of color and sparkle to him and he def stands out when placed next to a good portion of furs. I actually had a great time talking to the owner of this suit. They knew what I was talking about when I told them about my wife and the military which is why it seems so appropriate I showcase him now.

The joke about Bravo Co. still makes me laugh.

Anyways, enough rambling. I know you’re here for the interview and more pictures, so, lets get right down to it!!!

1.Name: Jasper Hernandez
2. Character Name:
rainbowtail
3. Character Species:
maincoon cat

7. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
When I became a furry :3

8. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences!
Yes I do sometimes
My favorite experience in fursuit would be when I see children’s eyes light up and come running to me wanting a hug! The top moment for me was, I was walking around a parade in suit and this kid was just really scared of all the noises and loud colors. And when I came around the corner, I asked him if he needed a hug, he ran up to me and gave me the biggest hug I have ever received! Later he told me that he was going through some tough times and felt so alone and depressed, and that i talked to him and gave him a hug made his day.

9. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
I’ve been to San Japan in my old suit
But I am planning to go to Tff!

10. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
So far good!

11. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
I wanted a fursuit oh my baby! That’s all

12. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
I am always willing to talk to you even suit, but I’m a little more nervous out of suit.

13. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
The memories and people I meet.

14. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
HEAT AND SWEAT.

15. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit?
Wait a little before you get one
You might grow out of it and have to get a refurb or a whole new suit.
And drink plenty of water and get lots or rest. AND WASH YOUR SUIT PLEASE!

16. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
The face that I can’t put it on with my glasses

17. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
Yes!
I really want to get a fursuit enterprise suit of my baby jasper!

18. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
Naw to lazy

19. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this?:
Don’t let anyone tell you what you do is weird and nasty. Just be you!
And wash your suit please.

So there you have it folks!

I can totally understand the glasses issues since I have the same problem with Rune. I need my glasses to see but my silly self forgot to actually measure my head with my glasses on, so now, until I get contacts, I need to have a handler guide me around if I am ever going to go Fursuiting in public.

Another thing is washing the Fursuit. Any fursuiter that has been doing this for awhile will remind other Fursuiters to brush and wash their suits regularly because you do sweat a lot in them and you do get very hot thus, Fursuits can easily get very very sweaty.

Still, this was a lovely person to interview, I love the character, love that they got straight to the point with the questions and were able to tell us about some of their fave experiences.

Hopefully I do not miss another Fursuit Friday. I will be in Indiana for about a month but, I will have my laptop on me so it should not be an issue for concern. I’m always looking for new fursuiters to join the ranks and be featured on this blog! We are nearing 20 features which is HUGE!!! So I can’t wait who gets pulled from the hat next!
But if you have a fursuit or know someone that fursuits that would be interested in being featured, please let me know! Leave a comment down below linking me to an FA, Da, or Fb account so I can shoot you a message! 😀

Anyways, that’s all I got for this one so, I will see you guys in the next blog 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #18: ALICE

12968716_230621617293461_645088361_n

Hello everyone and welcome to another “Fursuit Friday Feature”!
It’s my favorite day of the week because it gives me the chance to show off another amazing Fursuit within the Furry Fandom and Community! I have a lot of different people that have submitted their fursuits over the time I have been doing this and it’s always really fun when I pull a new name from the hat and get to see who goes next! This week we have a very unique-colored Fennec Fox character named Alice! Most know her by the username of Kat Queen 😀

This Fursuit is more realistic and I love showing off all different style of suits so this is really a treat! In my experience, most people think of fursuits as being closer to mascots or toon characters, so, to see a more realistic suit is often a change and very refreshing. Also, I love suits that have personality, and I think Alice here has loads of it!

While she only answered some of the questions for the interview, some things are best left as simple as possible, and I like a little mystery in a person, don’t you? So, lets see what Alice had to say on her character, suit, and etc. shall we?

1.Name: Kat Queen

2. Character Name: Alice

3. Character Species: Fennec Fox

4. Fursuit Maker: SaltySuits

5. Total Cost— $400 (I bought her off of 2Spooks)

6. How long did it take you to get a Fursuit?
I’ve been a furry for 5-6yrs, and I made my first last year, bought one this year. So about 4-5yrs.

7. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit?
Sometimes I do, I’m still a little new to suiting publicly.

8. Have you been to any Cons in suit?
No but you can catch me at AC2016!

9. How have people reacted to your Fursuit?
So far so good! Squeeing in happiness. Calling her cute and pretty ~

10. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
Seeing suiters when I had just become a furry, going around to old folks homes and children’s hospitals, making them smile. It is my goal to do the same. Seeing someone smile is beyond contagious.

11. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
No.. not yet. I’m debating on doing so~

Suiting is a very different and a very unique experience, and I hope that, even though this blog is after Anthrocon of 2016 that some of you got to see and meet Alice and get to know this suiter first hand!

When getting a suit, it can be hard to decide what exactly you want to do with it. you might have an initial plan, but, once wearing the suit and figuring out your limitations and such, well, those plans might change and/or you might be thinking of new things you want to do. Things like suiting out in public or even making a youtube channel can be nerve-wracking and can take a person a moment to build up to. I know that Alice did not have too many photos when the interview was first done, but hope that this character has had so many more awesome experiences since then!

Thanks again for tuning in! I have recently gained some more followers of my blog and look forward to bringing you more content as time moves on. I’m trying to think of new things to add as content and will hopefully be able to write more than just the one blog a week I generally post. I’m still look for fursuiters as well as artists, crafters, and just general furries in which to interview and showcase to the fandom…to get names out there and products. So, leave a comment down below if interested and provide me a link (to FB or FA even DA) where I may reach you to send you the questions.

But, I love all the support this blog has gotten and all the people checking it out. I can’t wait to showcase someone new next week and, as always, I will see you all in the next one 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #17: ASHITAKA WOLF

1465046570.granas_12898422_1331117970247769_7313518954570221231_o

Hello everyone and welcome to another Fursuit Friday Feature!
I do apologize that I did not post last weekend, but, I was not feeling very well and found myself not having the time to sit down and type out a blog. Either way, here we are again with another Fursuit Friday Feature…and this one dates back to my older interviews before I added more questions to make it more in-depth and interesting to read (thus the disclaimer).

I will admit that I have always been partial to canine suits, my main sona being a wolf…and so, when I saw this fursuit, I had to ask for an interview! While my questions in the interview can get boring for people to answer from time-to-time, Ashi was kind enough to do them all, and had a YouTube channel where the Nascar Arcade video made me smile. So whether you are here just to look at the suit or watch videos of furries  hopefully the questions are still interesting enough to make you appreciate the character, appreciate the suit, and enjoy Fursuit Friday taking a look at this cute which is Ashitaka Wolf 😀

1. Name: James Fernandez

2. Character Name: Ashitaka Wolf (Ashi for short)

3. Character Species: Wolf

4. Fursuit Maker: MadeFurYou (http://www.madefuryou.com)

5. Total Cost: $2,400.00

6. How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
It took about 6 months from the time I sent MadeFurYou my deposit to getting my fursuit in hand. It’s a pretty reasonable amount of time given the popularity of the maker and the quality of the construction.

7. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
I’ve wanted a fursuit since long before I even joined the fandom. Ever since I was a child, I was fascinated by mascot costumes and wanted one of my own. I decided to buy one shortly after joining the fandom and seeing how much fun it looked to attend conventions and things in suit. It turned out to be just as fun as it looked.

8. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences! Absolutely! I go out in public every chance I get, though that gets more and more difficult due to various laws that prevent you from wearing masks in public spaces. That being said, While I was in Hawaii I would get together frequently with the 808 Furs and “paint the town red” in suit. We’d go to Dave and Busters, the beach, the public parks, and downtown. We would also frequently raise money and attend the local charitable events, such as the Arthritis Walk and the Honolulu AIDS Walk. One of my most memorable moments in suit was when I was suiting at a small farmers market in Hawaii where a friend was vending. My handler and I were walking by a parent holding a small child that was maybe a year old. He wasn’t facing me, so he didn’t see me right away, but when he turned around and saw me he had the most adorable startled look on his face. It’s just one of those things I don’t think I could ever forget.

9. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
I have been to quite a few conventions in suit. Most recently, I attended Furry Weekend Atlanta 2016 and had an absolute blast. I’ve also attended Furry Unlocked 2015, Amazing Hawaii Comic Con 2015, Kawaii Kon 2012-2015 as well as another smaller anime convention I can’t remember the name of in Georgia. As for a favorite, that’s a really tough question. I liked them all for different reasons, but I suppose If I had to choose, Amazing Hawaii Comic Con has it. There was just so much to do there. I got to take pictures with people cosplaying as all different kinds of super heroes and even got to meet the creator of Deadpool! Too cool!

10. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
In general people react really well, at least in Hawaii. In Atlanta, GA, I got similar reactions walking around downtown in suit…mostly confused looks and some people stopping me to take a picture or get a hug (I offer free hugs, by the way). Kids love fursuiters. If their parents let them, they’ll run right up and tug on your tail to get your attention. Overall, though, the public reaction is very positive.

11. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
I bought my suit to be an extension of myself. The goal was that it would allow me to, perhaps, do things I wouldn’t normally do because I was too shy to do them. I think it was successful in that respect.

12. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
I’m not actually that much different in suit versus out of suit, at least not any more, though I’ll admit that I’m little more willing to do silly dance moves and things like that when I’m in suit. As I mentioned in the previous question, I like to think of my suit as an extension of myself that allows me to do things I wouldn’t ordinarily do.

13. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
I like the positive energy that wearing a fursuit gives me. The fact that when I walk out in public wearing my fursuit, I know I’m going to put a smile on someone’s face and make someone’s day just a little bit brighter makes me feel good.

14. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
The heat inside a fursuit is awful. I’ve been working on ways around it, but it’s just so hot in those things. When they say it reaches temperatures over a 100 degrees inside a fursuit, they aren’t kidding.

15. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit? The best advice I can give a first time fursuiter is this: Drink plenty of water and have a handler with you at all times that knows some kind of signal for when there is trouble. It really is hot inside a fursuit and if you aren’t prepared, you are just setting yourself up for failure. For those considering getting a fursuit, get one! Fursuits are an awesome bit a fun that are rewarding in the reactions you get from children and adults alike. Just remember the advice I gave to the first time suiters once you get your suit. Trust me on that.

16. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
Having the zipper on that back of the suit is a little bit annoying. It takes two for me to suit up. Realistically, it’s not that big of deal since I have my husband there to help me put on my suit and act as my handler when I suit, but it’s annoying just the same.

17. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I will definitely be getting another suit in the future, in fact, I will be building the suit myself. My next suit is going to be a completely different character, a dragon/wolf hybrid named Kaleo.

18. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
I do make videos in suit, though it has been a great while since I have done so. I mostly do video game reviews on my YouTube channel, so there usually isn’t any video of me or my suit. There are, however quite a few videos there of me in suiton my channel from the time I spent with the 808 Furs in Hawaii. My YouTube channel can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/user/granus101
(If that link doesn’t work, just search “AshiWolf Studios”).

19. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this?
Never forget what makes the furry fandom great…Love, acceptance, and tolerance. I’ve never been a part of a more inviting group than the furry fandom. I really want it to stay that way so that newcomers have a group they can feel welcome in, just as I did many years ago.

So there you have it! Here’s to another Fursuit Friday in the bag!!!!
I love it when people submit pictures as well as their channels so I can go and watch these awesome videos. Watching people interact with others while in a Fursuit just has a different kind of appeal to it and is just magical to watch. That’s why I am so eager to get my own suit finished so I too can be among them and make awesome videos of my own some day! 😀

But thank you so much Ashi for allowing me to interview you! It has been a pleasure showcasing you in my blog! I’m looking forward to showing off more fursuits in the future, so, be looking out for those as well!

If you know someone (or you are someone) that owns a Fursuit and would like to be featured in this blog, please let me know! Leave a comment down below with a link where I might reach you so that we can set up an interview! I’m not just looking for Fursuiters, but also for artists, crafters, and the regufurs out there as well!

Let me know what you guys thought of this week’s suit, and send Ashi some love! Thanks so much for tuning in, and, as always, I will see you all in the next one 😉

Furry Highlight #11: RITZ

13933176_1793210020910761_184190030_n

Hello everyone and welcome back to Furry Highlights!

I have been saying for a long time that I wanted to do these things again, but sadly, I always managed to fluff that one up, usually because I never found the time during the week and/or forgot. For those that are not familiar with the regular Furry Highlights, they are where I showcase artists, crafters, and the average fur outside of the “Fursuit Friday Feature” which is exclusively for Fursuiters.

These used to be the main highlight of the blog series, but then lack of artist interviews had me slowing down, and even now, I know I need to go and replenish my stock of interviews. Usually (thus far) for this section, I have interviewed digital artists of some kind…but now, now I would like to take a moment to focus on something else, and that is the “crafters” in the fandom. this time, we have “Ritz” for an interview!

Crafted good are always a treat within the fandom whether it is making plushies, sculptures, or even props for fursuits! Just the amount of time and talent all these things take is amazing, and what one can create with what supplies is always so baffling and mesmerizing when you get to watch them work!

But…more on Ritz.

Ritz owns her own little business via Facebook called Sewfi Creations and what she creates is adorable! she has felt badges and little fuzzy furs to take home, and they were all such a treat to see! She approached me about an interview and we had so much to talk about as she walked me through what she does, and just had general conversations about things in the Furry Fandom. She was lovely to chat with and sent me lots of cute photos of the things she had made! But, enough rambling…lets get into the interview with Ritz so you can get to know her better, get to see the amazing products from Sewfi Creations and maybe just maybe find your next commission! 😉

1. Name: Sofia Stanley
2. Age: 28
3. Gender: Female
4. Location: South Texas

5. Hobbies: Video games, crafting, drawing, hiking, and jet skiing.

6. Fursona Name: Ritz (main)
7. Species: Vixaroo

ARTIST/Sales Pages: www.facebook.com/sewficreations

8. When did you discover/join the Furry Fandom?
I had noticed the fandom during my high school years but independently carried on my own furry interests. It wasn’t until 3 years ago I became a part of the social circle through Facebook.

9. What inspired the creation of your main Fursona?
I’ve always loved foxes and kangaroos so I decided to create a hybrid between the two. Plus the pouch would be a great addition for cons to store items~

10. In what ways is your Fursona like you and in what ways may they be different?
Ritz is who I am, she’s my personality but with fur. She is colorful, spunky, and adventurous 🙂

11. What are some common misconceptions you hear about Furries?
I believe all fandoms have their dark sides but media tends to only blast the negatives or adult activities on this one due to not understanding all aspects of animal interests.

12. What are some problems you have seen within the Furry Community?
Drama for sure. Too many furries argue, troll around, steal art, etc.

13. Have you ever been insulted for being a Furry?
Not really since anyone I mentioned it to I was already close with. I have raised a few eyebrows and have been questioned but that’s it.

14. Have any of these things ever made you consider leaving the fandom? Why/Why not?
Nope, never! I’m proud of who I am and my participation in this fandom as a craft artist has put my name out there so I’m here to stay.

15. Has your character (Fursona) changed your life in any way?
Having my own character enables me to be more involved socially and interactively. I currently have a partial suit but once she’s a full suit I’ll be attending events and cons as much as possible.

16. If you could meet your Fursona in real life…what might you talk about or what activities might you do together?
We would totally go camping and boating or jet skiing, something fun.

17. Tell us a little about your craft(s) and what inspired you to make them:
I was without a computer (no more digital art) for 5 years so I took this time to specialize in crafting. Since I like to be different I wanted to do something else other than badges or print outs hence my physical craft objects. Tada!

18. How long have you been selling your crafts to others?
Furry wise for the past 2 years.

19. How much time does it take to make one product? What about supply costs?
All depending on complexity: both my Felt Badges and Cubz can take up to 5-10 hours, my PlushCakes and PlushPops take about 3-5 hours, and my Paw Magnets take 30 minutes. The supply costs are fairly cheap and can last me a good few uses. Felt is 25c per 4 sheets, yarn bundles average $5, and every knickknack I use is $1-$5.

20. Do you only make designs you think up or do you make custom designs for others?
I only work with design references that have been given to me. I have recently gotten into designing digital adopts that I will be releasing soon though.

21. What do your prices look like for your creations?
These are my current prices but may soon change:

Paw Magnets- $5

PlushPop- $10

PlushCake- $15

Cubz- $20

Felt Badge- $30

22. What are your goals for the future when it comes to your crafting?
Someday I would love to have my own booth at local craft shows and conventions.

23. What do you find makes your product unique?
I like to think it’s one of a kind because I haven’t seen anyone else make yarn/felt crafts like I do.

24. As a sales pitch…what would you say to make others be interested in buying your product (specifically):
Lol I guess I should go practice that… I’m no salesman.

25. Is this your only income or is it a side-project?
It’s a side project that helps with income when I’m able to commit.

26. What advice would you have for other people trying to sell their crafts to the Furry Fandom?

So there you have it fuzzbutts! That was Ritz and Sewfi Creations! I will not lie, those felt badges look adorable, and  wouldn’t mind snagging one for myself one day!!! Also, I would love to see Ritz get enough support so that she can go on to sell at a Convention because I feel like felt dolls, felt badges, and just cute little crafts like this in general are starting to become more popular within the fandom.

Sadly, Ritz does not have an FA or a DA to look to, but she does have her Facebook Sale’s Page which was linked above, and, I recommend very highly that you go and check that out! what was cool was, Ritz is the first furry “crafter” I have ever interviewed…thus, I had to alter an existing artist-interview sheet that I had, and ended up saving the altered result as the crafter interview specific for those that do not delve into digital art. Ritz is also the reason I ended up adding more in-depth questions to my artist interview, so, all sorts of good things came from this!

So yes…many thanks to Ritz for the interview! I wish you well in your business and in your creations! Also, I hope you all will check out her page and at least say hello! Share this page with your friends if you know anyone who might be interested in her products.
I love interviewing everyone in the furry fandom from artists, to crafters, to fursuiters, and just the average fur. I like talking about news within the furry fandom and posting about furries in the media. So, if YOU or someone you know would like to be featured in this blog then please LET ME KNOW!

Drop me a comment down below with a link to your DA/FA/or Facebook where I might reach you! Also, if there is something in specific that related to the Furry fandom that you would like me to discuss? Leave a comment down below as well and I would love to write about it!

But, that’s all we have for this one. Thanks so much for tuning in, and, as always…I will see you all in the next one 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #16: WINDWO1F

1432325094.windwo1f_fancy_seeing_you_here

Happy Fursuit Friday everyone! It has been such an amazing couple of weeks for me, and I always love taking some spare time to whip up these lovely blogs for you showcasing all the unique and lovely characters out there in the furry Fandom!!!

So, while I am still trying to get in the swing of things with this blog I have loved the responses I have gotten from the people that see them. People wanting to be interviewed, people saying that they like this content and that it is a pleasant read and something / people excited about seeing the new suits I post every Friday. It really is one of my favorite things to do is to find new things to write about and new pictures to post up so that I can place a smile on someone’s face.

I do apologize my blogs have not been constant, but, I do have something and someone very awesome for you guys this week! To me, a Fursona or Fursuit does not have to be complicated to be cute, to be fascinating…and it’s the creator, the person on the inside that makes that character fun, animated, and loved by all. While I love all the different (sometimes crazy) designs that have come my way, sometimes I take time to fancy the more simple designs that remind me that it is really the personality behind these suits that makes the magic.

So, today for Fursuit Friday I am introducing you to Wind!!! Wolves have always been my favorite animal and so, I was really excited to come across this suit! But, I know why you are here so, I will quit my rambling and get on with the interview!!!

1.Name: Ellie (WindWolf)
2. Character Name: Wind
3. Character Species: wolf

4. Fursuit Maker: Made by myself. Headbase by Media

5. Total Cost (optional)— $400 (estimate)

6. How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
It took a couple of months before I received the head kit, but from there I made it in about a week.

7. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
I first decided I wanted a fursuit back in 2011 and from there I have been making suits for five years now.

8. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences!
I’ve gone on several occasions. One fun experience was fursuit sledding at a nearby park. I had way too much fun sliding down the hill and burying my friends in the snow!

9. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
I’ve been to two cons in this particular suit and five individual cons altogether, some more than once. My favorite though has got to be Anthrocon.

10. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
Some think it’s cute and children particularly like my suit, but others have reacted a bit more negatively, some demanding that I take the suit off or talk in suit to make sure I “know I’m a real person”. In general though I get more good reactions than bad.

11. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
It started as just something to do for fun and a chance to stretch my creativity and from there it’s turned into a bit of a business alongside my art.

12. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
Out of suit I’m very quiet and like to just remain mostly unnoticed. In suit though I definitely act more playful and bouncy.

13. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
I love the performance more than anything; the ability to make people smile and just the chance to really be yourself without any restraints.

14. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
Definitely the heat! I’ve nearly gotten sick several times from heat exhaustion in suit and it is no fun.

15. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit?
If you plan on commissioning a suit than do your research first! Find a maker that suits your needs and is both friendly and trustworthy, there’s no bigger disappointment than spending a good amount of money on a suit and then not having the maker not even get back to you for over a year and ultimately getting ripped off. If you want to try making your own then go for it! Anyone can make a fursuit. There are so many different tutorials out there and people willing to give you helpful advice. Don’t be afraid to start!

16. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
Trying to get it look exactly how I want it. I’ve gone through four (not counting a semi-realistic head I also have for the suit) versions of the same suit and I’m constantly finding things to fix and update. It’s the fursuit maker’s never-ending quest for perfection!

17. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I have at least one other suit I plan on making for myself along with two I need to fix up. It’ll definitely be a very different character than my fursona. 😀

18. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
Not in this particular suit (yet). But I do have videos of some of my other fursuits.

19. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this?:
Fursuiting brings so much joy to others and yourself. Suit on!

So there you have it! That was Wind!

I agree so much that fursuiting brings so much joy to people’s lives and that people can make so much difference in doing just the simplest things. Whether that is being the loving character that gives that sad person a hug, whether it is dancing and making people laugh, whether it is raising money for charity, or even if it’s just being the best you can be and putting out that positive image for the Furry Community…even without a fursuit there is so much you can do to make this world a better place!

I think Wind seems very positive even though they have not had 100% positive experiences. Fursuiting is obviously a big part of their life and it shows in their character and how much pride they have in doing it and wanting to share that with other people.

I would very much love some day to see Wind’s other suits because this person has just the right attitude, and reading/posting this interview was just so much fun!

Anyways, thanks again so much for reading these blogs! They are just something I do in my spare time, but I love doing it and love that it makes people happy and that people are interested in it and have fun with it! Would love to eventually get more writers maybe, and put more content into this blog so that there is more to read per week.

If you know someone with a fursuit or have one yourself, I am still looking for people to interview!

My queue has started running low again…I have some older interviews that have not been pulled from the hat yet and once those are all showcased then there is nothing I have left in reserves or anything. So, if you’re interested in being part of this blog, feel free to drop a comment with a link to your Facebook, FA, DA…somewhere where I can reach you. I do not only interview fursuiters but artists, crafters, and just your average furry watchers as well. I also want to start showcasing the unique species in the fandom, so, if you are the creator of a species then you can drop me a comment as well!

Thanks for tuning in, and as always, I will see you all in the next blog 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #15:CRYO & KYLE

Happy Fursuit Friday everyone and welcome back to another amazing fursuit Friday Feature!!! i know I have been busy posting about my new YouTube Channel and my own fursuit head…but this is one feature that I have been looking forward to posting for some time!
The amazing thing about Fursuits and the Furry Community in general is how creative one can get with the character. We have toony styles, we have semi-realistic and realistic makes. We have Scalies, Fuzzbutts, and Avians alike, and there are no limits on what one can create so long as they have the resources to do it! And, while I was browsing through the Fursuit selection one day, I ran across Cryo the armored Fursuit and I knew that I HAD to get an interview!!!

Not only was the owner open for interview, but they did mention that Cryo was not really being worn anymore…and rather, he was suiting up in a character, the Avian character named Kyle. While it was sad to see Cryo retired, it opened up a very good opportunity as I was now able to get a DOUBLE FEATURE up on this blog for the first time ever!!! It never occurred to me that sometimes Fursuiters have multiple characters, and so, this was really exciting for me because both suits are extremely stunning and so, so detailed!!! But…I am rambling…and I just can’t help it because these suits are just SO COOL!

But, lets get down to the interview and get to know more about the suiter and these amazing creature creations!!! 😀

1.Name: Donald Hafner
2. Character Name: Cryo Cyberwolf or Kyle Skyrender
3. Character Species: Arctic Wolf / Shrike

4. Fursuit Maker:
Cryo: Rainbow Productions
Kyle: Coyoroo
http://www.roofur.com/

5. Total Cost (optional)
Cryo: $14,000
Kyle: $2,300 base + $700 for the armor

6. How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
Cryo: 9 months / Kyle – 11 months

7. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
I think the first time that I said that I knew I wanted one was back in 2001. I had seen a picture of Rikter the Cyberdog, the old soccer mascot worn by Yippe Coyote, and immediately wanted one.

8. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences!
Yes, though not very often. It’s very rare that I will get into suit unless its a fur meet and only if I have enough time. Both suits do take a bit to get into and sadly with how mine are made they do require the assistance of another.

There was one time that I was at a fur meet in a mall as Cryo. Several cops were also in the mall (real ones not Mall Cops). One of them came up to me and told me that he really enjoyed seeing all of us there and that my suit was awesome and would have loved for me to be their mascot. Needless to say I was flattered.

9. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
Of course! Any con I go too I will attempt to get into suit at least once. My favorite is probably Anthrocon due to the exposure.

10. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
Most people react quite well when they see my suits. They comment on how cool it looks and several want pictures taken of themselves or their families.

11. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
To be honest, the main goal I had in mind was really to be noticed. My first Anthrocon was great but I saw that most of the people really liked the fursuits and they got most of the attention. I wanted to be a little more known in the fandom as well as wanting to have fun with the other fursuiters.

My first suit was a rather generic suit and for all intents and purposes failed miserably in getting the exposure I wanted. Oh there were a few people who said it was nice but they all thought it was a bear or something. Not what I was going for. It was also pretty bland so it didn’t pop as well as I was hoping. Still it was a learning experience.

12. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
Cryo and Kyle act very much like the hero would. Cryo is cool and collected and both of them are extremely confident in everything they do. When I am not in suit I am not nearly as confident.

13. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
The attention, paws down! I like it when people come up to me and give me compliments on the suit. I may not have made it but I was the one who had the idea…I just had to get someone to make the idea a reality.

14. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
THE HEAT!! Probably why MFF is a good con since most of the time its cold. 🙂

15. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit?
You are going to sweat. You are going to sweat a lot! It is not something that you automatically are going to be used to. You have to build up your tolerance to wearing it. Treat it as a sport or an exercise. Start off small at first then work your way up to longer times. Drink plenty of water and do not suit on a empty stomach. It’s an endurance thing. Keep your suit clean and keep yourself clean as well. Always take a shower immediately after getting out of suit and no, Axe body spray is not a shower!

16. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
Getting it on. Both of my suits require assistance to put on and that is probably the biggest hassle when I wear them.

17. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I would have to say that I would love to update Cryo. Currently he is retired and will remain so until I can actually get him looking as good as he did when I first got him. Six years is a long time for a fursuit and hes starting to show his age.

As for the other suit, Kyle, I am in the process of upgrading him now. He had some flimsy armor made for him just to get him out into the public but he needed something better if he was going to be a long standing suit like Cryo was. Now I am waiting on actual armor bits that are being made currently. I will have pictures after Anthrocon 2016.

18. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
I myself don’t but I have been in several that have gone on to the You of Tube.

19. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this? [it can literally be about anything]:
Do NOT think that you have to spend a lot to get a suit. My suit was an exception because I had a specific look in mind and it had to be custom to only me. I don’t regret the amount I paid for Cryo as I would do it again if I was able (though I would probably get it from someone different). Kyle is turning out to be a lot of fun even though he’s financially cheaper.

As for Kyle, I really enjoy running around with him because he is something unique. I really like to do unique ideas instead of generic things. Kyle is what is known as a shrike. It is a small bird with a hooked beak that eats insects and small mammals. It however does not kill its pray with its talons as they are too small for that. Instead it grabs its prey and fly’s them to a tree, rose bush or barbed wire fence and impales its prey on it. They are known as butcher birds for this reason and immediately I knew I wanted to be this badass bird.

I originally waited to post this feature as Kyle was supposed to have his armor by the time Anthrocon was coming around the bend, but sadly, the armor was not finished in time…and, when I do see pictures, would love to add them to the slide show or add them to a later part of the feature!!!

But, what I do like about both of these suits is that they are really unique…the characters are interesting and show a lot of personality even though they are suits. I can see where they would be fun to walk around in and how confident they would make the wearer because of their strong essence on the outside. Hats of the owner for having the ideas, and def hands down to the makers of the suits because both did such an amazing job! Both characters were so well thought out, and I really do hope the world can see a re-emergence of Cryo and he can come out of retirement even though it would be super amazing to meet either of these suits first-hand and in person.

This just goes to show that there really is no limit on imagination! There is no limit to the form and idea a Fursona can take, and it’s so amazing to be a part of this community and to see these things be brought to life in this fashion. So, thank you again, Donald for the AMAZING interview and allowing me to see these brilliant suits of yours 😀

And thank you all so much for tuning into my blog! It has been so great getting to do these features every week, and giving more and more furries exposure across the fandom. The more you read and share these blogs, the more people get exposure and we all become a little more connected!! So thanks so much for tuning in, can’t wait until I can bring even more stuff to you, and, as always, I will see you all in the next blog 😉

[PS]= If you or a friend you know is interested in being featured for Fursuit Friday, then don’t be shy! Drop a comment with a link to your Facebook, DA, FA, or otherwise so I can get in contact with you!!! 😀

Fursuit Friday Feature #14: BILLY LUGOSI

DSCN1945

Hello everyone, and, HAPPY FURSUIT FRIDAY!!!
Like every other week, today is my favorite day of them all…and not just because I then have the weekend to do as i please, but, it’s because today is the day that I get to show off another amazing Fursuit!!! For the last 3-4 weeks (and even farther back), we have had some amazing submissions. We have had fuzzy lions, adorable foxes, an inflatable dolphin, and then a chibi Angel Dragon.

So, for this week to kind of mix it up from the cute and fluffy, I decided to take things in a more “cool” direction, and introduce you to the ever-suave and classy: Billy Lugosi!!! this suit stands out to me for multiple reasons. Not only because the intricate face pattern, but this Fursona has an amazing hair style to boot…not to mention that his is amazing in front of a camera.

I was very excited when I offered to interview this awesome creature and he accepted. So, before I ramble on any further, let us get down to the interview and learn a little bit more about this interesting character!!!

1: Name: William Rodriguez
2: Character Name: Billy Lugosi
3: Character Species: Spectacled Flying Fox (Fruit Bat)

4: Fursuit Maker: Cuttlebone : http://www.furaffinity.net/user/cuttlebone

5: Total Cost:
He was made from an amalgam of on-hand materials and bought supplies… so less than $500.

6: How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
Maybe a few months from the start of construction.

7: When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
When I started dating my current partner I was introduced into the ‘fursuiting’ and fursuit-making’ world. After a year or so of being together and having the opportunity to observe a fursuit being constructed from start to finish, I guess the idea of owning one kind of grew on me until I wanted one for myself.

I think after my first convention (FWA 2013) was when I began to mull about commissioning, or making my own fursuit. Between all the room partying and browsing the artist’s alley and dealer’s den, I definitely noticed something; conventions were really focused around the fursuits… and the dancing. Outside my circle of Virginia Beach friends, no one really remembered me being at FWA’13; now, loads more people remember seeing ‘the punk fruit bat with the pompadour.’ I guess, in a way, it was an avenue for me to solidify my existence in this strange fandom. I was leaving more of an impression on people with my character opposed to anything else.

8: Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences!
I normally don’t go out in my suit solo, but I like wearing it in groups with other fursuiters. I hate being the center of attention for too long so I like anonymity in numbers.

9: Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
I’ve been to several cons since my first: FWA three times, TFF, FTM, Furry New Years Ball, MFF. If I had to choose my favorite con it would be FWA – I’ve just never had a bad time there. MFF is definitely fun too, but I’ve only been there once – gotta go again to make sure .

10: How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
The usual reaction is a stare and an awkward smile or giggle. People usually want to take pictures or interact with me. I like hearing peripheral voices like, ‘OMG look!’, or ‘what is that?’ I think sometimes I enjoy being around non-furries in suit sometimes. You’re putting a highlight in someone’s otherwise ordinary day.

11: What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
Well back to previous answer where I stated that having a fursuit solidified my purpose for being in the fandom. I have a lot of social anxiety and I’m a huge introvert so being able to remain anonymous while being in public was a huge thing for me. I want to make friends, I want to do silly shit in public and still retain my dignity, haha. It helped/helps me break out of my bubble.

12: How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
Out of suit, I’m pretty straight-faced and less approachable. I’m quiet, shy, and reserved. In suit, I’m much more inclined to be mischievous and exude ‘the attitude’ that comes with my character.

13: What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
My least favorite part of wearing the fursuit is probably the fact that your character is very same-faced, no matter how you feel on the inside. So occasionally you may run into the problem of needing to get to spot where you can just chill, but you’re being constantly stopped for hugs and pictures. Luckily for me, I have no qualms with removing my head in public. I know a lot fursuiters think it’s taboo to ‘ruin the magic,’ but as for me, nah.

14: What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit?
So you want to get a fursuit? Awesome! Join the ranks! Please consider your choice of maker carefully… do your research. Discover the pros and cons of every make and model of fursuit out there. Ask friends online. A good idea is to ask a local friend who already owns one: What do you like/dislike about your fursuit? Can I try the head/body suit on? If you have multiple friends that own suits from different makers, that’s even better! Find out which style fits your taste the best. Remember, you’re about to throw upwards of several thousands of dollars down on this purchase. A fursuit is an investment choice one can’t smartly decide overnight.

Also… prepare to sweat! Fursuits are made of faux fur and high density upholstery foam, if not resin – which traps even more air in. You’re a walking sweat box in a matter of minutes sometimes. You need to be hydrated… like yesterday. Drink plenty of water… eat something light so you have energy. Be familiar with the zippers and snaps on your suit in case you need to quickly get out of suit on your own.

You’ll be smart to invest in some kind of compression gear or dive skin that can make getting in and out of less troublesome and less itchy; also you’ll want, and NEED, an extra barrier to keep excess sweat from getting on the fabric of your suit. Buy a hang-air drying fan to air out your body suit after use and maybe a small fan to dry out your head as well. Dryer sheets with a fresh scent really help to absorb odor and freshen up your head when it’s not in use. And a good rule of thumb is to just wash the suit after coming back from a convention, even before going if it’s been in storage for some time. Make sure to brush your suit often before and after wearing it with a wire dog grooming brush to keep your longer fur from getting wavy and tangled.

15: Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I probably will get another version of my character someday. Whether I’ll make it myself or commission it is still undecided.

16: Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
I have been in some videos… nothing too big, just silly stuff for a laugh.

Unfortunately, I was not able to find said videos…but it would be cool to someday see this Fursuit in action 🙂

But, I really liked reading this interview afterwards. It would seem that the person underneath the character actually has some really good advice and has really done his research when it comes to Fursuits. I agree with what he has to say though. Fursuits are a VERY big investment and must be considered VERY carefully. You have to choose a maker, then decide if the character you are thinking about having done is one you will wear for a long time to come. While some people feel it is necessary to have a suit in the fand,…be aware that only 15%-20% of the fandom actually suits…so, do what makes you feel comfortable 🙂

It’s also amazing to see the contrast of the people while in their suit versus how they are outside of it. Also the contrast between looks. Some Fursonas tend to look similar to their creator, and others are completely different. That is why Fursuit Friday is always such a treat for me, and, readers have shown that they really like these blog posts as well!!!

So thank you Billy for participating in the Fursuit Friday Feature for this week! If YOU would like to one day be featured in the Fursuit Friday Feature for this blog, I am always looking to do new interviews! All you have to do is drop a comment down below with a link to your FB, FA, or DA where I might be able to contact you. Also, if you have friends that might be interested, don’t hesitate to share this blog with them!!! But, thanks so much for tuning in. I really love writing for this fandom and showcasing all the different people within it. Doesn’t matter to me…regufur, watcher, artist, crafter, or suiter. You are all unique to me and I can’t wait to showcase you some day!
But, that’s all I have for now…so, as always, I will see you all in the next blog 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #13: JIINXXY

tumblr_nkyhg7qt7p1tjttxpo1_500_by_skells666-d8wnv10

Happy Fursuit Friday everyone!!!

As stated in the last blog, I am back from vacation and I want to thank everyone who sent me well wishes and fun times while I was away. California was a blast, I miss it already…but, now that I am back, I have more time for my blog. With everyone being at Anthrocon, now is the BEST time to show off all the Fursuits you might possibly encounter while you are there…and because this is feature number 13 (the cursed number and jinx), I thought it clever to showcase to you Jiinxxy!!!

Alright…so maybe I thought it was clever even if no one else did (*grumble*), but, what is actually really cool about this feature is that Jiinxxy is friends with our first-ever feature on this blog: PEARL!!!! That’s right! So we get to showcase another adorable Angel Dragon which is always my favorite thing to do!

Jiinxxy was one of the earlier fuzzbutts that got to take my new set of interview questions for a spin, and, I had so much fun being able to look through their DA gallery to find the perfect pics just for this feature! I will admit that it was super hard because, Jiinxxy is just so darned cute! But, I am rambling at this point so lets just dive right in like we always do and get to know this Fursuiter a bit better!

1.Name: Tylar Sutcliff.

2. Character Name: Jiinxxy.

3. Character Species: Chibi angel dragon.

4. Fursuit Maker (can include links to shop if you want): Pawie Paws! (Link)

5. Total Cost (optional)—

6. How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
I received him in around 3-4 months, I think.

7. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
Quite a long time ago when I was little, it was only in the past few years I decided that I would go ahead and get one!

8. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences!
Sadly Jiinxxy hasn’t been taken out in public. I really want to though.

9. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
I think he has been out to two cons. Man, that was so fun. London Super Comic Con was where I first met Toxin, Jiinxxy’s brother ❤

10. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
Like I said about going out in public, my little dragon hasn’t had the chance. I have taken out Lyrico (Polar wolf) and SKells (Skeletal fox) though. People have been quite fond of Lyrico, even though he does have one eye with a scar over it. I only take SKells out into public on Halloween, she’s perfect for creeping out the teenagers on my estate.

11. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
Honestly, just for fun and being able to bring a character to life.

12. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
I tailored Jiinxxy’s character to be quite a lot like me. Energetic, squeaky and fun. I do suppose there is the smallest confidence boost whilst in suit, I wouldn’t really just look at someone and give a loud
peep! if I wasn’t some fluffy dragon creature.

13. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
Being able to portray his character and make people smile if they like it. The highest compliment I could be given is a smile at Jiinxxy ❤

14. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
Overheating, and every now and again, my hair falling out of the cap and going in my eyes.

15. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit?
Be aware of any situation that could happen whilst wearing the suit, and have preparations set in case of these situations happening. Like overheating, fursuit damage, being in a big crowd with limited sight. And also be aware of how big your suit is. You don’t want to be bumping into people with a large pair of wings, or tripping people up on your tail.

16. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
People being unaware of my sight range. I know it’s not someone else’s fault if I don’t see them and accidentally walk into them or bump them, it’s just a thing when it comes to suits. Luckily Jiinxxy has quite good sight. In Lyrico, who has horrible sight, I have actually had someone come right up to me and just stand in the same spot as I walk right forward into them.

I’ve just thought of another one. Once again, not really anyone’s fault, but it’s something I’ve experienced. Disrespectful kids. Now, I love kids. They are all sweethearts. Even if they’re the one’s yelling out “That’s not a real [insert species here]!”. But I’ve had a hoard of kids run up to me, pull at the fur, and try to undress me from my fursuit. I had to very quickly remove my head and tell them to please take a step back and not do that.

17. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I am planning on selling Lyrico and redesigning him to be a jackalope. Bunnies are my favourite animals (I’ve based Jiinxxy’s personality and actions off of my own bunnies). I am thinking of possibly having some alterations to Jiinxxy’s markings, but that’s still something to be thought about in the future.

18. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
I used to. A few con adventures, a suit-up, a speech and a dance video.

19. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this? [it can literally be about anything]:

This is something I’ve noticed a lot of in this particular fandom. First-time suit makers being trashed because their hard work doesn’t look like the definition of perfection.

Darlings, everyone starts from somewhere. Don’t take it to heart if someone has a negative opinion. You keep that first fursuit head. Keep it and keep looking back on it every time you make more. You will notice just how much you’ve improved in time. You will succeed, I promise. This is coming from the guy who didn’t know how to put on eyeliner just over a year ago. But still. Am I getting my point across?

Love you all, sweethearts, and stay absolutely fabulous.

So there you have it folks! That was Jiinxxy the Chibi Angel Dragon!

To me, it is always amazing the lovely characters people can make just using two colors. Just how they arrange the markings and etc…some might say it’s not so creative, but I think Jiinxxy looks amazing and would def love to be at a con with this suiter one day! Not to mention, I loved the dance video, and would very much recommend you heading over to Jiinxxy’s YouTube even if it is only to say a quick “hello”.

Seeing all the adorable suiters out there really has me looking forward to suiting up myself (one day)…but, for right now, all I have is Rune’s head, so, we will see what I can make happen in the years to come.

But, that’s all we have for this one! If you are a suiter and would like to one day be featured in this blog as well, feel free to drop me a comment linking to your FA, DA, FB, or other so that we can set up an interview! Best part is, you don’t even have to be a fursuiter to get interviewed!!! I like interviewing just the average watcher, furry — I even interview artists and crafters that want to showcase their art pages and their works! So, reach out to me and lets get your name out there!

Also…just real quick: I am still looking for people who are currently at Anthrocon that would like to document their experience for me to showcase!
It’s really easy!!! You write an article about your experiences thus far at Anthrocon…you can submit pictures, raw footage, anything! This way, people that could not go or are debating going in the future can see what Anthrocon is like through your eyes!!! Again, leave a comment if you want to volunteer!!!

So, thank you all for tuning in! I am very glad to be back so that I might bring you more amazing furry content. You know the drill…thank you all for reading and, I will see you all in the next one 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #12: CYRIN

Midwest FurFest 2013

Midwest FurFest 2013

Hello everyone, and Happy Fursuit Friday!!!

Summer has been here and in a lot of places it has already been super hot. Myself, I am basking in the California sun, and so, I thought, why not feature an awesome Fursona that reminds everyone of summer, the ocean, and just some fun in the sun? I love doing these interviews because of all the neat creatures and characters I get to see come to life, and Cyrin is one of the most unique I have ever seen!!! 😀

Oceanic creatures are not so common in the fandom, let alone “inflatable” creatures. Cyrin’s fursuit stood out to me while browsing FA so I had to ask him to be featured in the blog! Luckily, he said yes…and so, without wasting any more time, let’s get down to Cyrin’s Fursuit Friday Feature and interview!!!

1. Character Name:
Cyrin Inflatophin

2. Character Species:
Inflatable Common Dolphin

3. Fursuit Maker (can include links to shop if you want):
Midori aka Suit-A-Dile
https://www.furaffinity.net/user/suit-a-dile

4. Total Cost (optional)—
$2000 USD (I avoided paying international shipping by picking it up at a con)

5. How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
About 9 months from start to finish, but since I ordered it to coincide with a con the actual build time was more like 3 months.

6. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
Although I had some experience with fursuits prior (my ex used to make them), what really sealed the deal for me was my first furry con back in 2009. I was hesitant, though, because I wasn’t sure if my fursona design would translate well into a fursuit. It was only when the maker’s partner approached me and gave an assurance that it would be possible that I finally decided to go through with it (in 2013).

7. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences!
I do suit in public, but only in groups. I believe in the “safety in numbers” motto and I think the reaction from members of the public is a lot more positive when there are several fursuiters running around.

I think my favourite experience suiting in public was during a furry snow trip; myself and a small group of Australian furs visited the snowfields at Falls Creek, Victoria. Bear in mind that snow is extremely uncommon in Australia and this is one of only a handful of places where there is enough of it to go skiing and snowboarding. On the final day of our visit, we all got in fursuit and rode the chairlift up to the top of the mountain. We got such a positive reaction, not just from members of the public but also from the staff at the resort; so many people asked to have their photo taken with us, and we even did a shoot with the resort’s official photographer. We appeared in the local newspaper and they even asked if we’d be willing to stay for an extra week to take part in a festival! Unfortunately, we weren’t able to stay, but it was extremely humbling to be invited. It’s also the only time i’ve ever been completely comfortable in suit; even on the coldest days of what passes for “winter” where I come from, I still overheat.

8. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
I have attended several furry cons since I got my fursuit, namely MFF (2013, 2014), FurDU (2014, 2015, 2016) and FurWAG (2014, 2015). Being a dolphin, FurDU appeals to me greatly because of the proximity to the beach and the enormous hotel pool. It creates a lot of excellent photo opportunities and allows me to accessorize and have fun with props. I sometimes think my character can be a little tricky for people to understand, so being able to perform in the right context really helps with that. In terms of sheer numbers, however, i’d have to say MFF is my favourite con. There are just so many fursuiters, not to mention so many friends and like-minded furs who I find it so much easier to connect with.

9. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
The reaction is almost always positive. I’ve done all the things you might expect; posing for photos with adults and children, giving hugs and high-fives (or is it high-threes in my case?), playing ball and tag… I have noticed, though, that very few people guess my species correctly; I’ve been called everything from a shark to a platypus. It’s also hard to explain the whole inflatable aspect of my fursona as I don’t talk in suit and can only gesture at my nozzle and handles.

10. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
I suppose it was two-fold: On the one fin, I wanted to be like all the other fursuiters and share in the fun that they get to experience. Seeing suiters at furry cons always made me so happy, and I wanted to be able to project some of that happiness myself. On the other fin, I also wanted to develop a closer understanding of my fursona and have the opportunity to “become” Cyrin, in a way that no amount of artwork or stories would ever allow me to. So, I guess you could say it was partly for other people and partly for myself.

11. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
I definitely behave differently in suit; I think this is true of every fursuiter, regardless of how extroverted or outgoing they are in person. The suit just smashes down barriers of inhibition and allows you to get away with so much more. It’s not a complete transformation, though – it’s still recognizably me in there, just a different projection of myself.

12. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
It’s hard to narrow this down to anything tangible… all I can say is that it just feels inherently “right” when I’m in suit. A mixture of excitement, joy and relief – I finally get to be myself.

13. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
Body heat and perspiration is one thing I could definitely do without. Although I have only seriously overheated once before, I always have to deal with sweat. I think I produce a lot more than most other suiters, even in seemingly cool conditions. (It doesn’t help that I live in a part of the world that is known for its brutal summer temperatures either.) It’s not just a problem while in suit (in terms of discomfort and dampness) but it also affects how quickly I can get back into suit during cons and other events. Some people are good to go again within an hour or two, but in my case the suit can still be wet after several hours. I’ve devised many techniques to deal with this, including a home-made electric head dryer.

14. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit?
– Make sure you are 100% happy with the design of your character before you commission a fursuit. Have several visual references and don’t be afraid to try out different ideas. It’s much easier to change details on paper than it is once your suit is finished.

– Find a maker whose style compliments your character, and who has experience with your species. If you’re not sure, ask before you apply. If you can’t afford to commission your preferred maker straight away, keep on saving and wait until you can.

– Plan and prepare before your suit arrives; think about what you will wear under your suit, how you will clean and maintain it, how you will transport it (particularly if flying) and what you will do if the suit needs repairs.

– Don’t mess up your duct tape dummy. Follow the maker’s instructions for this and any measurements. Take a photo of yourself before you cut off the tape. (If I’d followed this advice, it would have saved my maker a lot of hassle!)

15. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
I don’t have a huge amount of flexibility, particularly when it comes to kneeling or sitting down. This is partly due to the character design and the form-fitting nature of the suit, but I may have also gotten the leg length slightly wrong. I am also quite self-conscious about how the head joins to the body; with really short fur, I always feel like it looks mismatched. There are ways around this, of course, for example wearing something around my neck.

16. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I have given this a lot of thought, and I can’t really see how a “version 2” of my suit could improve that much over the original to justify the cost. I have a few other characters, including my cow (Clover) who would lend herself well to a fursuit. I’ve also considered going for a completely new character or a second-hand suit, as it would be fun to try something new.

17. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):

I think Cyrin is better-suited to still images, but I do appear in a couple of videos:

18. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this? [it can literally be about anything]:
Fursuiting is a lot of fun, as well as being a very rewarding experience; but it’s not for everyone. Don’t feel as though you have to own a suit in order to be a “proper” furry, and don’t get one just because everyone else is doing it. Always stop and ask yourself what you really want. Also remember that we suiters have a huge amount of appreciation for our handlers and photographers! Without you guys, our suiting adventures wouldn’t be anywhere near as enjoyable or memorable.

So there you have it!

Cyrin really is a cool character and it’s awesome how such a cute dolphin is also the loveable pool characters we have all had at one point or another. It’s amazing how such a simple thing like a plug and some handles can make a design all the more unique, and Cyrin offered some really awesome answers for his interview as well!

As i have said many times before, some people are new to fursuiting and do not have too much experience yet for which they can share. Others are more reserved about talking about said-experiences, but, then there are those that love talking about their experiences because they like telling a tale that brings them so many good and fun memories! Either way, I always love doing these interviews and seeing all the different people, their characters, what experiences they have had separately, their involvements in the fandom in general…it shows how vast this community really is and it’s always fascinating to see!!!

Anyways, I’m still on vacation and will be for a few more weeks. Hopefully these scheduled posts have been holding you over and you have found them just as entertaining as I think they are. thanks you so much tuning in, and, I will see you all in the next one 😉
