Fursuit Friday Feature #20: REI

It’s Friday!!!
it is Friday, the weekend is here, and that means that we get to have another Fursuit Friday Feature!!! Also, the best news is that this is our 20th Fursuit Feature on this blog!! Thank you so much to all the amazing people that have come together and have answered these questions talked to me on FB and otherwise so that I might go and show off your fantastic creatures to the world! It really has been an honor!

Also, I noticed that this is what people come to the blog for! This is what they look forward to when seeing any new post I make because they want to see if they or their friends were pulled from the hate and/or, they want to see the cute or crazy new suiter that I am showcasing. So many of you have shown off some amazing designs that made people want a Fursuit of their very own, so, thank you for being so awesome, being creative and just being you.

This week we have a Dutch Angel Dragon (I seem to get quite a few of those) named Rei!!! I was posting awhile ago about needing fursuiters for showcasing and for people to answer my new and improved interview sheets and Rei answered that call! So, after a few messages and an e-mail, Rei was saved to the folder where I randomly pick a name each week, and, here we are!!! Sorry it took so long to get to you Rei…but hey! You are lucky number 20!!!!

I love dutchies and love dragons just in general so these are always so fun for me…so I’m not going to ramble anymore, lets get to know Rei a little better!

1.Name: Jennifer McClellan

2. Character Name: Rei

3. Character Species: Dutch Angel Dragon

4. Fursuit Maker: I made him

5. Total Cost (optional)— $500 maybe $600

6. How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
Um it took me at least five month to finish him.

7. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
I always wanted one and at one time I tried to create one. But my boyfriend at the time really discouraged me from doing it so I gave up after that. Then I saw a video of Telephone and instantly fell in love again with fursuits. So I took the dive and bought all my supplies and got to work and here he is.

8. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences!
My favorite experience was actually not fully outside. When I started making Rei I hid it from my family except for my grandmother. I send her all my work in progress pictures and then when he was finish I facetimed her and showed him off.

9. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
Um, I haven’t been to any Cons yet. If there is anything closer towards the end of the year that are near Philadelphia I wouldn’t mind going, but I just plan on to Anthrocon next year.

10. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
It’s been pretty good to me except when this guy kept hitting me in the muzzle luckily my mother was around and cursed him before I had to say anything.

11. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
At first it was just to make one and say I have one but now I think I might work on my craft a little bit more and become a fursuit marker. Its fun making them I really wish I can get a following.

12. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
I’m normally am a hyper kind of person so I made my character a little like me. Rei is a little more quite then what I am and he is a little clumsy. But when the time comes he is there in your corner cheering you to success

13. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
Being able to bring a 2-D drawing to life and portray myself as my character.

14. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
The heat, it’s very hot in Philadelphia already so when I did wear him I was hot as hell. I think if I line the head differently it might make it better and fur in my mouth I hate that.

15. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit?
If you have time and money go ahead and commission for one. If you feel that you would do better by making it yourself then do it. But please take constructive criticism with a grain of salt, people are not trying to hurt you when they give it but you can tell what’s being rude and what’s being helpful.

16. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
I bought too much fur now I can make extra items like extra paws and extra feet… I kind of wish that my dragon had paws for feet instead of hooves but I just think I’m going to make them and just make them for indoor and have the hooves for outside.

17. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I plan on making a sergal towards the end of the year. But it will be a partial instead of a full suit I’m not finding my colors in full yards.

18. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
I plan on it; I might make a small dance video in a couple of weeks even though I’m not the best dancer (two left feet lol)

19. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this?:
Don’t get discourage, try and try again. No one is where they are in life by giving up on the first time

Rei is adorable and I have always loved black-and-white color schemes. I also hope tat if Jennifer makes the Sergal we can one day showcase that one too! Dutchies are really cute and seem to be very popular and a fan fave so…like Rei, I hope to showcase more of those in the future as well.

Really solid advice and really wonderful answers from Jennifer. So, I think this makes for a very good 20th Fursuit Friday Feature, don’t you? We are running low on Fursuiters to showcase which is why I have been trying to spread them out as much as possible. NO ONE and NOTHING IS TURNED DOWN! Whether you have a fullsuit, partial, quadsuit, or just a Fursuit head, it counts! Multiple fursuits is fine as we can do those all in one interview!

So, if you or a friend has a fursuit and would like to be featured, please leave a link down below where i might reach you so that I can send you the interview and such!

Thank you all so much for tuning in. Wondering what else to put in this blog so please, leave me any feedback on where to find things you might want to hear me write about, some topics you want to discuss, and etc.  I want to hear your opinions to please, let me know what’s up.

That’s all we have for this one and we will have another one next Friday. So, as always, i will see you all in the next blog 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #19: RAINBOWTAIL

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Fursuit Friday Feature!!! I am very sorry to have missed last week, but, with my wife having Deployed, I kinda lost motivation and to take a hiatus. But, I’m back now and feeling much, much better.
Thanks to all the sweet fuzzbutts out there that sent me very lovely messages and such hoping I got to feeling better soon, you are all awesome!

But, with that being said, I am back and need to get back to business…and what better what than showcasing another Fursuit on everyone’s favorite day!!!!

As you all know, I love the unique characters that are in this fandom, and i especially love ones with bright and crazy colors. Well, Rainbowtail nails that one on the head as he has plenty of color and sparkle to him and he def stands out when placed next to a good portion of furs. I actually had a great time talking to the owner of this suit. They knew what I was talking about when I told them about my wife and the military which is why it seems so appropriate I showcase him now.

The joke about Bravo Co. still makes me laugh.

Anyways, enough rambling. I know you’re here for the interview and more pictures, so, lets get right down to it!!!

1.Name: Jasper Hernandez
2. Character Name:
3. Character Species:
maincoon cat
4. Fursuit Maker (can include links to shop if you want):
theroyalbanana on fa!

5. Total Cost (optional)— 875$

6. How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
About 7 1/2 months

7. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
When I became a furry :3

8. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences!
Yes I do sometimes
My favorite experience in fursuit would be when I see children’s eyes light up and come running to me wanting a hug! The top moment for me was, I was walking around a parade in suit and this kid was just really scared of all the noises and loud colors. And when I came around the corner, I asked him if he needed a hug, he ran up to me and gave me the biggest hug I have ever received! Later he told me that he was going through some tough times and felt so alone and depressed, and that i talked to him and gave him a hug made his day.

9. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
I’ve been to San Japan in my old suit
But I am planning to go to Tff!

10. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
So far good!

11. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
I wanted a fursuit oh my baby! That’s all

12. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
I am always willing to talk to you even suit, but I’m a little more nervous out of suit.

13. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
The memories and people I meet.

14. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?

15. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit?
Wait a little before you get one
You might grow out of it and have to get a refurb or a whole new suit.
And drink plenty of water and get lots or rest. AND WASH YOUR SUIT PLEASE!

16. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
The face that I can’t put it on with my glasses

17. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I really want to get a fursuit enterprise suit of my baby jasper!

18. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
Naw to lazy

19. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this?:
Don’t let anyone tell you what you do is weird and nasty. Just be you!
And wash your suit please.

So there you have it folks!

I can totally understand the glasses issues since I have the same problem with Rune. I need my glasses to see but my silly self forgot to actually measure my head with my glasses on, so now, until I get contacts, I need to have a handler guide me around if I am ever going to go Fursuiting in public.

Another thing is washing the Fursuit. Any fursuiter that has been doing this for awhile will remind other Fursuiters to brush and wash their suits regularly because you do sweat a lot in them and you do get very hot thus, Fursuits can easily get very very sweaty.

Still, this was a lovely person to interview, I love the character, love that they got straight to the point with the questions and were able to tell us about some of their fave experiences.

Hopefully I do not miss another Fursuit Friday. I will be in Indiana for about a month but, I will have my laptop on me so it should not be an issue for concern. I’m always looking for new fursuiters to join the ranks and be featured on this blog! We are nearing 20 features which is HUGE!!! So I can’t wait who gets pulled from the hat next!
But if you have a fursuit or know someone that fursuits that would be interested in being featured, please let me know! Leave a comment down below linking me to an FA, Da, or Fb account so I can shoot you a message! 😀

Anyways, that’s all I got for this one so, I will see you guys in the next blog 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #18: ALICE

Hello everyone and welcome to another “Fursuit Friday Feature”!
It’s my favorite day of the week because it gives me the chance to show off another amazing Fursuit within the Furry Fandom and Community! I have a lot of different people that have submitted their fursuits over the time I have been doing this and it’s always really fun when I pull a new name from the hat and get to see who goes next! This week we have a very unique-colored Fennec Fox character named Alice! Most know her by the username of Kat Queen 😀

This Fursuit is more realistic and I love showing off all different style of suits so this is really a treat! In my experience, most people think of fursuits as being closer to mascots or toon characters, so, to see a more realistic suit is often a change and very refreshing. Also, I love suits that have personality, and I think Alice here has loads of it!

While she only answered some of the questions for the interview, some things are best left as simple as possible, and I like a little mystery in a person, don’t you? So, lets see what Alice had to say on her character, suit, and etc. shall we?

1.Name: Kat Queen

2. Character Name: Alice

3. Character Species: Fennec Fox

4. Fursuit Maker: SaltySuits

5. Total Cost— $400 (I bought her off of 2Spooks)

6. How long did it take you to get a Fursuit?
I’ve been a furry for 5-6yrs, and I made my first last year, bought one this year. So about 4-5yrs.

7. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit?
Sometimes I do, I’m still a little new to suiting publicly.

8. Have you been to any Cons in suit?
No but you can catch me at AC2016!

9. How have people reacted to your Fursuit?
So far so good! Squeeing in happiness. Calling her cute and pretty ~

10. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
Seeing suiters when I had just become a furry, going around to old folks homes and children’s hospitals, making them smile. It is my goal to do the same. Seeing someone smile is beyond contagious.

11. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
No.. not yet. I’m debating on doing so~

Suiting is a very different and a very unique experience, and I hope that, even though this blog is after Anthrocon of 2016 that some of you got to see and meet Alice and get to know this suiter first hand!

When getting a suit, it can be hard to decide what exactly you want to do with it. you might have an initial plan, but, once wearing the suit and figuring out your limitations and such, well, those plans might change and/or you might be thinking of new things you want to do. Things like suiting out in public or even making a youtube channel can be nerve-wracking and can take a person a moment to build up to. I know that Alice did not have too many photos when the interview was first done, but hope that this character has had so many more awesome experiences since then!

Thanks again for tuning in! I have recently gained some more followers of my blog and look forward to bringing you more content as time moves on. I’m trying to think of new things to add as content and will hopefully be able to write more than just the one blog a week I generally post. I’m still look for fursuiters as well as artists, crafters, and just general furries in which to interview and showcase to the fandom…to get names out there and products. So, leave a comment down below if interested and provide me a link (to FB or FA even DA) where I may reach you to send you the questions.

But, I love all the support this blog has gotten and all the people checking it out. I can’t wait to showcase someone new next week and, as always, I will see you all in the next one 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #17: ASHITAKA WOLF

Hello everyone and welcome to another Fursuit Friday Feature!
I do apologize that I did not post last weekend, but, I was not feeling very well and found myself not having the time to sit down and type out a blog. Either way, here we are again with another Fursuit Friday Feature…and this one dates back to my older interviews before I added more questions to make it more in-depth and interesting to read (thus the disclaimer).

I will admit that I have always been partial to canine suits, my main sona being a wolf…and so, when I saw this fursuit, I had to ask for an interview! While my questions in the interview can get boring for people to answer from time-to-time, Ashi was kind enough to do them all, and had a YouTube channel where the Nascar Arcade video made me smile. So whether you are here just to look at the suit or watch videos of furries  hopefully the questions are still interesting enough to make you appreciate the character, appreciate the suit, and enjoy Fursuit Friday taking a look at this cute which is Ashitaka Wolf 😀

1. Name: James Fernandez

2. Character Name: Ashitaka Wolf (Ashi for short)

3. Character Species: Wolf

4. Fursuit Maker: MadeFurYou (

5. Total Cost: $2,400.00

6. How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
It took about 6 months from the time I sent MadeFurYou my deposit to getting my fursuit in hand. It’s a pretty reasonable amount of time given the popularity of the maker and the quality of the construction.

7. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
I’ve wanted a fursuit since long before I even joined the fandom. Ever since I was a child, I was fascinated by mascot costumes and wanted one of my own. I decided to buy one shortly after joining the fandom and seeing how much fun it looked to attend conventions and things in suit. It turned out to be just as fun as it looked.

8. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences! Absolutely! I go out in public every chance I get, though that gets more and more difficult due to various laws that prevent you from wearing masks in public spaces. That being said, While I was in Hawaii I would get together frequently with the 808 Furs and “paint the town red” in suit. We’d go to Dave and Busters, the beach, the public parks, and downtown. We would also frequently raise money and attend the local charitable events, such as the Arthritis Walk and the Honolulu AIDS Walk. One of my most memorable moments in suit was when I was suiting at a small farmers market in Hawaii where a friend was vending. My handler and I were walking by a parent holding a small child that was maybe a year old. He wasn’t facing me, so he didn’t see me right away, but when he turned around and saw me he had the most adorable startled look on his face. It’s just one of those things I don’t think I could ever forget.

9. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
I have been to quite a few conventions in suit. Most recently, I attended Furry Weekend Atlanta 2016 and had an absolute blast. I’ve also attended Furry Unlocked 2015, Amazing Hawaii Comic Con 2015, Kawaii Kon 2012-2015 as well as another smaller anime convention I can’t remember the name of in Georgia. As for a favorite, that’s a really tough question. I liked them all for different reasons, but I suppose If I had to choose, Amazing Hawaii Comic Con has it. There was just so much to do there. I got to take pictures with people cosplaying as all different kinds of super heroes and even got to meet the creator of Deadpool! Too cool!

10. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
In general people react really well, at least in Hawaii. In Atlanta, GA, I got similar reactions walking around downtown in suit…mostly confused looks and some people stopping me to take a picture or get a hug (I offer free hugs, by the way). Kids love fursuiters. If their parents let them, they’ll run right up and tug on your tail to get your attention. Overall, though, the public reaction is very positive.

11. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
I bought my suit to be an extension of myself. The goal was that it would allow me to, perhaps, do things I wouldn’t normally do because I was too shy to do them. I think it was successful in that respect.

12. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
I’m not actually that much different in suit versus out of suit, at least not any more, though I’ll admit that I’m little more willing to do silly dance moves and things like that when I’m in suit. As I mentioned in the previous question, I like to think of my suit as an extension of myself that allows me to do things I wouldn’t ordinarily do.

13. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
I like the positive energy that wearing a fursuit gives me. The fact that when I walk out in public wearing my fursuit, I know I’m going to put a smile on someone’s face and make someone’s day just a little bit brighter makes me feel good.

14. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
The heat inside a fursuit is awful. I’ve been working on ways around it, but it’s just so hot in those things. When they say it reaches temperatures over a 100 degrees inside a fursuit, they aren’t kidding.

15. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit? The best advice I can give a first time fursuiter is this: Drink plenty of water and have a handler with you at all times that knows some kind of signal for when there is trouble. It really is hot inside a fursuit and if you aren’t prepared, you are just setting yourself up for failure. For those considering getting a fursuit, get one! Fursuits are an awesome bit a fun that are rewarding in the reactions you get from children and adults alike. Just remember the advice I gave to the first time suiters once you get your suit. Trust me on that.

16. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
Having the zipper on that back of the suit is a little bit annoying. It takes two for me to suit up. Realistically, it’s not that big of deal since I have my husband there to help me put on my suit and act as my handler when I suit, but it’s annoying just the same.

17. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I will definitely be getting another suit in the future, in fact, I will be building the suit myself. My next suit is going to be a completely different character, a dragon/wolf hybrid named Kaleo.

18. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
I do make videos in suit, though it has been a great while since I have done so. I mostly do video game reviews on my YouTube channel, so there usually isn’t any video of me or my suit. There are, however quite a few videos there of me in suiton my channel from the time I spent with the 808 Furs in Hawaii. My YouTube channel can be found here:
(If that link doesn’t work, just search “AshiWolf Studios”).

19. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this?
Never forget what makes the furry fandom great…Love, acceptance, and tolerance. I’ve never been a part of a more inviting group than the furry fandom. I really want it to stay that way so that newcomers have a group they can feel welcome in, just as I did many years ago.

So there you have it! Here’s to another Fursuit Friday in the bag!!!!
I love it when people submit pictures as well as their channels so I can go and watch these awesome videos. Watching people interact with others while in a Fursuit just has a different kind of appeal to it and is just magical to watch. That’s why I am so eager to get my own suit finished so I too can be among them and make awesome videos of my own some day! 😀

But thank you so much Ashi for allowing me to interview you! It has been a pleasure showcasing you in my blog! I’m looking forward to showing off more fursuits in the future, so, be looking out for those as well!

If you know someone (or you are someone) that owns a Fursuit and would like to be featured in this blog, please let me know! Leave a comment down below with a link where I might reach you so that we can set up an interview! I’m not just looking for Fursuiters, but also for artists, crafters, and the regufurs out there as well!

Let me know what you guys thought of this week’s suit, and send Ashi some love! Thanks so much for tuning in, and, as always, I will see you all in the next one 😉

My problem with Furries represented in the Media #1

[[DISCLAIMER: I understand that a lot of the clips I find are years old and that there are better documentaries out there. Some of the words I use or things I sat may offend some people, but these are my opinion. I do not joke about mental health as I am diagnosed with an array of things deeming me “mentally ill” / also, as a Therian, I do not look down upon the Therian and Otherkin groups, I just merely express that they are separate from the Furry Fandom, not one and the same thing, and they are in no way related even if Therians and Otherkin decide to join said-fandom. The Furries mentioned in this clip are doing nothing wrong, the only thing I am trying to express is that their views and behaviors do not encompass everyone in the fandom and that National Geographic was setting up an image of Furries that was not realistic to the entire fandom.]]

Every once in awhile, I like to go on random websites like YouTube, Google, or Yahoo and search up “furries”. I don’t know why I do it…in fact, a lot of the time it’s torture because, my results get narrowed down to anti-furry propaganda (for some reason) or “cringe compilations”.

Either way, one thing always remains the same when it comes to these little searches of mine…and that is that I generally HATE the way that furries are represented in the media. I would say that 9/10 times, the furries that are interviewed are the image that the public believes encompasses us all…and that could not be FARTHER from the truth! Not only does this often give us a weird or negative representation, but, it sets these false ideas of what our fandom is actually about! It makes these fake rules that newcomers to the fandom think they have to follow when they are not even rules at all!

For example…
The other day, someone pointed out that they needed a Fursuit because they wanted to be a Furry. I commented that they did not need a Fursuit to be a Furry. In fact, I stated there were furries that did not even have a Fursona. And, this kid was confused. He tried to rebuttal, saying that all the videos he had ever seen about furries were people in Fursuits…every interview, every vine, everything. All I could do was shake my head because…they were right. All those videos that the news channels would show, the documentaries made by people outside of the fandom…MOST of them focused around the Fursuits even though only 15-20% of the fandom suit up. It’s frustrating honestly…

That’s why a lot of new people come waltzing into the fandom thinking they know everything, and then in less than a year, they have left the fandom because they really had no idea what the fandom was about in the first place!!! It’s aggravating, it’s annoying!

…and you wanna know what? It gets even worse!

So…let me just tell you about something that I was watching today. On YouTube, I found something just called “Furries” and it was on the National Geographic Channel. Not just a local-news station, not even one of those chat shows my Mom likes to watch during the afternoon…no. NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC.
So I’m already thinking: “Okay…at least this thing is legit.”
And, I decided to give it a watch.

The aftermath? It was that face that basically said: “Uh…wtf, did I just watch?!”
Now, please take note that there are people that will be offended by my opinions…but, they are what they are, we are all individuals, and I just do not agree with most of the image this part of a documentary was trying to portray.

First of all…the clip in question that I watched was part of “Taboo: Secret Lives” and this clip was uploaded in 2012 (so I am assuming this documentary was on TV in the same year). Is it old? Sure…but it doesn’t change the fact that National Geographic hasn’t really made an effort to change what they originally said on this show.

The first thing that was off and wrong was that the narrator said that Furries are a growing fandom of people that think they are half human and half animal. This is not true? Like, not at all…
A furry on its own is just a person who is a fan of anthropromorphic animals (animals with human characteristics), and, this liking goes into different sub-groups of the fandom like those that appreciate art, movies, writing, or even mascoting/fursuiting. Even if a lot of the fandom does not want to admit it, one of these sub-groups does stem into the fetish and sexual areas…but not all Furries think they are half animal. In fact, not all furries even have a Fursona (animal character used to portray a person within the fandom) or even call themselves furries, let alone consider themselves to be half animal.

Even further on in the clip, they state again this fact but instead of saying ALL furries consider themselves as half animal, they claim that 85% of furries believe they are not entirely human. I wouldn’t really take those numbers seriously…especially not nowadays. Also, thinking you’re an animal is NOT furry…it’s Therian or Otherkin. That’s something separate from the fandom itself even if Therians and Otherkin types join the fandom. It’s not the same thing and thus, should not be lumped together as being “furry”.

As a lesbian, that would be like the news telling me that all lesbians hate men or something rubbish like that. I don’t hate men, neither does my wife, and neither do my lesbian friends. Do some lesbians hate men? I would not doubt it…but most do not hate men, they just do not find them attractive and therefore do not have sex with them. It’s like when people compare furries to zoophiles and say we all fuck animals or when they say all furries do is dress in costumes and have massive orgies. None of these things are true for all of us…and so, it’s pretty insulting that we are not being properly represented and we are being lumped together into assumptions that might make us uncomfortable.
Now…each fandom has its extremists, and each fandom has those people that are best left alone because they are not really an image we want to have so we best avoid it, and honestly, each fandom has those group of people that meet a stereotype that falls into borderline disgusting and/or illegal…you can’t avoid it — but, why classify everyone else like that? Why give the false image?

Well…it’s because:
A. The media does not really care to properly portray us.
B. They just want the views.

I mean, did you read what the clip is from?! Taboo? Secret Lives???

What is really so taboo about it all? The animals costumes? Well again, not every furry has a fursuit or will ever have one. Not even half of the fandom suits up. When they do? Not all fursuiters even fursuit in public places. Some believe it’s something only meant for local meets and conventions, and there are those that never even wear their suits outside of their own homes. But, then you have people going shopping in their suits, going to McDonalds in their suits…going to parks, and to school, and going sledding and going to the beach in their Fursuit. Yeah, it weirds some people out, they find it unnatural…but then again, some people really love Fursuits, find them cute, entertaining, and they bring a smile to people’s faces and brightens people’s days. So just because it’s not so common, it’s taboo? As far as I know, Fursuiting doesn’t go against any real laws, does not go against any religion…and as far as a secret life? Well, most furries don’t keep their involvement in the fandom a secret, they just don’t feel the need to shove it down people’s throats.

Going back to the whole lesbian thing…I am one, but it’s not like I tell everyone I meet. I don’t introduce myself that way, and usually, I don’t mention I have a wife but simply state that I am married because it is not anyone else’s business to know. At work, most people do not even know my orientation until they ask directly, and then I let them know so that there is no confusion. But, it’s not something I go around flaunting, it’s not something I feel I should “shout to the world”. I feel that being a furry is the same way…it’s your hobby and is no one else’s business. If someone asks, then you can tell them…but, if they don’t ask, why tell them? Why do they need to know? Furry is not a sexuality it’s not something you need to “come out of the closet” about. You like what you like and you share it with others that like it the same as you do. So, while some feel like its this heavy burden of a secret they carry with them…for most of us, we are who we are, we like who we like, and, if you don’t like the same things we won’t try and force you to like it, we won’t shove it down your throats, and if you tell us you hate it then it’s whatever because we really just do not care.

But the woman speaking in the clip does make a point as to why furries might make people feel uncomfortable. She describes it as child’s play and something best left in the past once we grow up. It is true people think adults should be beyond certain things like playing out characters using our imagination, especially dressing up in costumes and playing on playgrounds with our friends…but, it’s nothing harmful, it doesn’t cause any damage. Worst-case scenario is that a kid might be scared of the furry creature walking near the hiking trails and starts to cry…but that’s about it. On the subject of being too childish? Well, when you think about it, a lot of Fursuits were purchased and not made by the person wearing it. These suits are not cheap. They can easily be thousands of dollars and you have to be able to make payments of hundreds of dollars per month. So, furries have jobs, they are going to college. They are dentists and doctors and engineers. Some are in the military, others are traveling the world trying to find a place where they feel more at home. People live alone off making furry art and making the Fursuits people want to claim are “so childish”…furries have made their own companies this way. Yet, we are children that have just failed to grow up? Hardly.

But, the clip…
This whole thing seems to link Fursonas and Fursuits as kind of a disassociate disorder…kinda like having multiple personalities or an identity crisis. They treat being furry like a mental illness…and it’s not correct in the slightest, and I know more than a few furries that would find that insulting. Since I actually suffer from depression (medically, not self-diagnosed), paranoia, and extreme anxiety disorder…mental illness is nothing to joke about. Also, having studied to be a psychologist for some years, I can tell you that while some people do indeed create a Fursona based on their “other voices” or personalities…most people merely use themselves for inspiration and only put what personality and traits are already there…and make it into an animal form. There are furries that use their character to get rid of their anxiety and to be more sociable, especially online…but ultimately they understand that they themselves and their characters are no different…that they are still one and the same person. I have 3 such characters, and while each one is different, their personalities combine to make me as a whole. My wolf is my outward self as people see me. Not so shy but not always talkative. When I do talk, I don’t shut up…I like to joke and make people laugh. I don’t mind being in a crowd but sometimes need those days where I am left alone to do my own thing. then I have my Leothaun and she is more my “brooding” and “pondering” self. She is those deep thoughts I have in the shower or while I’m laying in bed. She is always questioning things and wondering if something bigger out there for her. then you have Rune. He is my silly side, my prankster side. He is my innocent childhood imagination and colorful ideas all in one. Then again, some people aim to make their complete opposite because it’s more exciting for them. Either way, they are merely expressed differently online and know that this character is not them.

But the way they focus on the Courtney (Nuka) in the documentary clip…the ominous music and blurred background while they show him snuggling some fur, narrating that sometimes he has to sometimes “unleash his inner kitten”. Like, you know they are just poking fun at us…right? They think we are all suffering from some disorder because we are in this fandom? As if we were not all loved as children and now we are so desperate for attention that we go and dress like giant stuffed animals and cartoon characters??? This is what they want the world to think we are! They want to portray us all in this way because the more crazy, the more weird, and the more awkward we look…the more times their video gets liked on Facebook, and the more people will tune into their show and share it with their friends so that they can both discuss how weird furries are and how strange it is.

I am not saying Nuka and his comrades shown are not furries…because they are. But the way they behave, the way they act, and even their personal beliefs about not being entirely human is just not an accurate portrayal of all people in the fandom. Even out of suit they behave in such a way most people outside of the fandom would find a little too crazy and too…awkward? I myself am not that close to anyone in my friend-circle, so, I cannot really relate. A lot of other people cannot relate as well, making them a target for media because they stand out…and that’s who the media go after when they want to talk to furries. They don’t go to just anyone, they look for the people who stand out…the people that really stick out like a sore thumb, and then they ask them vague questions where everything that furry says can be taken in a weird way and can be twisted.

Strangely enough…the furries that understand what the fandom is about and how it really varies, and just how unique we all are…the popufurs like Majira and Pocari Roo, and Blu…they know what’s up when it comes to the Furry Fandom, but, you do not see them being interviewed (even though they are madly popular on YouTube and in the fandom as well). You see the people not in suits that are scared to even step up to the microphone. You see the kid that is running around and barking and growls at the reporter. They could have edited that clip out…but did they? No. They would never do that because it was weird, it made the reporter laugh because he was freaked out and uncomfortable…and they show it on TV so people can make that scrunched up face of confused disgust and that clip alone can be placed into the thousands of future cringe compilations that will now pop up online for all the world to see. This is who the media looks for, this is who the media tries to talk to…and yes, they will then talk to someone that has a better idea of what the fandom is about, but, are people paying attention to that person? No…
They don’t care what the expert says because that kid barked at someone and growled and scratched at the reporter. The viewers don’t care because they just saw a massive furry cuddle pile on the floor as the narrator started talking about the sexual side of the fandom. Are those people even into the yiffing? They might not and could have just been goofing off…but what does it matter? The media got it on camera and can now say whatever they want whether it is true or not.

As for Nuka? I am sure he is a really cool guy. His friends look incredibly fun and they all look like amazing people that I would love to hang out with for a day just to catch a glimpse of the world through their eyes. The suits look great, and I love how open they are about being in the furry fandom without really saying or showing anything that would insinuate them shoving it down other people’s throats. So, I don’t think they are odd, I do not dislike them at all or find them cringey…but, I don’t like how furries are all placed together as being all the same way and I’m sure they would be just as disappointed if they were lumped as being just like me when we are two completely different sets of people that just happen to share a liking of a fandom.

So, it’s highly frustrating!!!

This is why I always say to newcomers to  learn the rules of the fandom…to be mature and to really watch their behavior because the actions of all seem to come back and haunt all of us whether we were involved or not.

So, expect more of these blogs in the future…
But, for now, I will leave you with the clip I watched and if you feel like putting in your two cents, you can do so in the comment-section down below. Thanks for tuning in everyone, and, as always, I will see you all in the next one 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #16: WINDWO1F

Happy Fursuit Friday everyone! It has been such an amazing couple of weeks for me, and I always love taking some spare time to whip up these lovely blogs for you showcasing all the unique and lovely characters out there in the furry Fandom!!!

So, while I am still trying to get in the swing of things with this blog I have loved the responses I have gotten from the people that see them. People wanting to be interviewed, people saying that they like this content and that it is a pleasant read and something / people excited about seeing the new suits I post every Friday. It really is one of my favorite things to do is to find new things to write about and new pictures to post up so that I can place a smile on someone’s face.

I do apologize my blogs have not been constant, but, I do have something and someone very awesome for you guys this week! To me, a Fursona or Fursuit does not have to be complicated to be cute, to be fascinating…and it’s the creator, the person on the inside that makes that character fun, animated, and loved by all. While I love all the different (sometimes crazy) designs that have come my way, sometimes I take time to fancy the more simple designs that remind me that it is really the personality behind these suits that makes the magic.

So, today for Fursuit Friday I am introducing you to Wind!!! Wolves have always been my favorite animal and so, I was really excited to come across this suit! But, I know why you are here so, I will quit my rambling and get on with the interview!!!

1.Name: Ellie (WindWolf)
2. Character Name: Wind
3. Character Species: wolf

4. Fursuit Maker: Made by myself. Headbase by Media

5. Total Cost (optional)— $400 (estimate)

6. How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
It took a couple of months before I received the head kit, but from there I made it in about a week.

7. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
I first decided I wanted a fursuit back in 2011 and from there I have been making suits for five years now.

8. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences!
I’ve gone on several occasions. One fun experience was fursuit sledding at a nearby park. I had way too much fun sliding down the hill and burying my friends in the snow!

9. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
I’ve been to two cons in this particular suit and five individual cons altogether, some more than once. My favorite though has got to be Anthrocon.

10. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
Some think it’s cute and children particularly like my suit, but others have reacted a bit more negatively, some demanding that I take the suit off or talk in suit to make sure I “know I’m a real person”. In general though I get more good reactions than bad.

11. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
It started as just something to do for fun and a chance to stretch my creativity and from there it’s turned into a bit of a business alongside my art.

12. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
Out of suit I’m very quiet and like to just remain mostly unnoticed. In suit though I definitely act more playful and bouncy.

13. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
I love the performance more than anything; the ability to make people smile and just the chance to really be yourself without any restraints.

14. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
Definitely the heat! I’ve nearly gotten sick several times from heat exhaustion in suit and it is no fun.

15. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit?
If you plan on commissioning a suit than do your research first! Find a maker that suits your needs and is both friendly and trustworthy, there’s no bigger disappointment than spending a good amount of money on a suit and then not having the maker not even get back to you for over a year and ultimately getting ripped off. If you want to try making your own then go for it! Anyone can make a fursuit. There are so many different tutorials out there and people willing to give you helpful advice. Don’t be afraid to start!

16. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
Trying to get it look exactly how I want it. I’ve gone through four (not counting a semi-realistic head I also have for the suit) versions of the same suit and I’m constantly finding things to fix and update. It’s the fursuit maker’s never-ending quest for perfection!

17. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I have at least one other suit I plan on making for myself along with two I need to fix up. It’ll definitely be a very different character than my fursona. 😀

18. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
Not in this particular suit (yet). But I do have videos of some of my other fursuits.…..vP&index=3…..BsenPKnzS2lwvP

19. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this?:
Fursuiting brings so much joy to others and yourself. Suit on!

So there you have it! That was Wind!

I agree so much that fursuiting brings so much joy to people’s lives and that people can make so much difference in doing just the simplest things. Whether that is being the loving character that gives that sad person a hug, whether it is dancing and making people laugh, whether it is raising money for charity, or even if it’s just being the best you can be and putting out that positive image for the Furry Community…even without a fursuit there is so much you can do to make this world a better place!

I think Wind seems very positive even though they have not had 100% positive experiences. Fursuiting is obviously a big part of their life and it shows in their character and how much pride they have in doing it and wanting to share that with other people.

I would very much love some day to see Wind’s other suits because this person has just the right attitude, and reading/posting this interview was just so much fun!

Anyways, thanks again so much for reading these blogs! They are just something I do in my spare time, but I love doing it and love that it makes people happy and that people are interested in it and have fun with it! Would love to eventually get more writers maybe, and put more content into this blog so that there is more to read per week.

If you know someone with a fursuit or have one yourself, I am still looking for people to interview!

My queue has started running low again…I have some older interviews that have not been pulled from the hat yet and once those are all showcased then there is nothing I have left in reserves or anything. So, if you’re interested in being part of this blog, feel free to drop a comment with a link to your Facebook, FA, DA…somewhere where I can reach you. I do not only interview fursuiters but artists, crafters, and just your average furry watchers as well. I also want to start showcasing the unique species in the fandom, so, if you are the creator of a species then you can drop me a comment as well!

Thanks for tuning in, and as always, I will see you all in the next blog 😉

Fursuit Friday Feature #15:CRYO & KYLE

Happy Fursuit Friday everyone and welcome back to another amazing fursuit Friday Feature!!! i know I have been busy posting about my new YouTube Channel and my own fursuit head…but this is one feature that I have been looking forward to posting for some time!
The amazing thing about Fursuits and the Furry Community in general is how creative one can get with the character. We have toony styles, we have semi-realistic and realistic makes. We have Scalies, Fuzzbutts, and Avians alike, and there are no limits on what one can create so long as they have the resources to do it! And, while I was browsing through the Fursuit selection one day, I ran across Cryo the armored Fursuit and I knew that I HAD to get an interview!!!

Not only was the owner open for interview, but they did mention that Cryo was not really being worn anymore…and rather, he was suiting up in a character, the Avian character named Kyle. While it was sad to see Cryo retired, it opened up a very good opportunity as I was now able to get a DOUBLE FEATURE up on this blog for the first time ever!!! It never occurred to me that sometimes Fursuiters have multiple characters, and so, this was really exciting for me because both suits are extremely stunning and so, so detailed!!! But…I am rambling…and I just can’t help it because these suits are just SO COOL!

But, lets get down to the interview and get to know more about the suiter and these amazing creature creations!!! 😀

1.Name: Donald Hafner
2. Character Name: Cryo Cyberwolf or Kyle Skyrender
3. Character Species: Arctic Wolf / Shrike

4. Fursuit Maker:
Cryo: Rainbow Productions
Kyle: Coyoroo

5. Total Cost (optional)
Cryo: $14,000
Kyle: $2,300 base + $700 for the armor

6. How long did it take you to get your Fursuit?
Cryo: 9 months / Kyle – 11 months

7. When did you decide that you wanted a Fursuit?
I think the first time that I said that I knew I wanted one was back in 2001. I had seen a picture of Rikter the Cyberdog, the old soccer mascot worn by Yippe Coyote, and immediately wanted one.

8. Do you go out in public while wearing your suit? Tell us one of your favorite experiences!
Yes, though not very often. It’s very rare that I will get into suit unless its a fur meet and only if I have enough time. Both suits do take a bit to get into and sadly with how mine are made they do require the assistance of another.

There was one time that I was at a fur meet in a mall as Cryo. Several cops were also in the mall (real ones not Mall Cops). One of them came up to me and told me that he really enjoyed seeing all of us there and that my suit was awesome and would have loved for me to be their mascot. Needless to say I was flattered.

9. Have you been to any Cons in suit? If you have gone to multiple ones, which one is your favorite and why?
Of course! Any con I go too I will attempt to get into suit at least once. My favorite is probably Anthrocon due to the exposure.

10. How have people reacted to your Fursuit while you are out in Public?
Most people react quite well when they see my suits. They comment on how cool it looks and several want pictures taken of themselves or their families.

11. What was your main goal in getting a suit? Did you have any plans for it or did you just get one for fun?
To be honest, the main goal I had in mind was really to be noticed. My first Anthrocon was great but I saw that most of the people really liked the fursuits and they got most of the attention. I wanted to be a little more known in the fandom as well as wanting to have fun with the other fursuiters.

My first suit was a rather generic suit and for all intents and purposes failed miserably in getting the exposure I wanted. Oh there were a few people who said it was nice but they all thought it was a bear or something. Not what I was going for. It was also pretty bland so it didn’t pop as well as I was hoping. Still it was a learning experience.

12. How do you act differently in suit VS when you are dressed as you normally would?
Cryo and Kyle act very much like the hero would. Cryo is cool and collected and both of them are extremely confident in everything they do. When I am not in suit I am not nearly as confident.

13. What is your favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
The attention, paws down! I like it when people come up to me and give me compliments on the suit. I may not have made it but I was the one who had the idea…I just had to get someone to make the idea a reality.

14. What is your least favorite thing about wearing a Fursuit?
THE HEAT!! Probably why MFF is a good con since most of the time its cold. 🙂

15. What advice would you give first-time Fursuiters and those considering getting a Fursuit?
You are going to sweat. You are going to sweat a lot! It is not something that you automatically are going to be used to. You have to build up your tolerance to wearing it. Treat it as a sport or an exercise. Start off small at first then work your way up to longer times. Drink plenty of water and do not suit on a empty stomach. It’s an endurance thing. Keep your suit clean and keep yourself clean as well. Always take a shower immediately after getting out of suit and no, Axe body spray is not a shower!

16. What would you say is your biggest peeve when it comes to your Fursuit?
Getting it on. Both of my suits require assistance to put on and that is probably the biggest hassle when I wear them.

17. Do you think you will ever get another suit in the future? Would it be an upgrade to your current suit or a different character?
I would have to say that I would love to update Cryo. Currently he is retired and will remain so until I can actually get him looking as good as he did when I first got him. Six years is a long time for a fursuit and hes starting to show his age.

As for the other suit, Kyle, I am in the process of upgrading him now. He had some flimsy armor made for him just to get him out into the public but he needed something better if he was going to be a long standing suit like Cryo was. Now I am waiting on actual armor bits that are being made currently. I will have pictures after Anthrocon 2016.

18. Do you make any videos while in suit (YouTube):
I myself don’t but I have been in several that have gone on to the You of Tube.

19. (Final Question): Any extra words of wisdom you would like to add for anyone reading this? [it can literally be about anything]:
Do NOT think that you have to spend a lot to get a suit. My suit was an exception because I had a specific look in mind and it had to be custom to only me. I don’t regret the amount I paid for Cryo as I would do it again if I was able (though I would probably get it from someone different). Kyle is turning out to be a lot of fun even though he’s financially cheaper.

As for Kyle, I really enjoy running around with him because he is something unique. I really like to do unique ideas instead of generic things. Kyle is what is known as a shrike. It is a small bird with a hooked beak that eats insects and small mammals. It however does not kill its pray with its talons as they are too small for that. Instead it grabs its prey and fly’s them to a tree, rose bush or barbed wire fence and impales its prey on it. They are known as butcher birds for this reason and immediately I knew I wanted to be this badass bird.

I originally waited to post this feature as Kyle was supposed to have his armor by the time Anthrocon was coming around the bend, but sadly, the armor was not finished in time…and, when I do see pictures, would love to add them to the slide show or add them to a later part of the feature!!!

But, what I do like about both of these suits is that they are really unique…the characters are interesting and show a lot of personality even though they are suits. I can see where they would be fun to walk around in and how confident they would make the wearer because of their strong essence on the outside. Hats of the owner for having the ideas, and def hands down to the makers of the suits because both did such an amazing job! Both characters were so well thought out, and I really do hope the world can see a re-emergence of Cryo and he can come out of retirement even though it would be super amazing to meet either of these suits first-hand and in person.

This just goes to show that there really is no limit on imagination! There is no limit to the form and idea a Fursona can take, and it’s so amazing to be a part of this community and to see these things be brought to life in this fashion. So, thank you again, Donald for the AMAZING interview and allowing me to see these brilliant suits of yours 😀

And thank you all so much for tuning into my blog! It has been so great getting to do these features every week, and giving more and more furries exposure across the fandom. The more you read and share these blogs, the more people get exposure and we all become a little more connected!! So thanks so much for tuning in, can’t wait until I can bring even more stuff to you, and, as always, I will see you all in the next blog 😉

[PS]= If you or a friend you know is interested in being featured for Fursuit Friday, then don’t be shy! Drop a comment with a link to your Facebook, DA, FA, or otherwise so I can get in contact with you!!! 😀

Talking to strangers on Omegle–

I have never been good with talking to strangers…well, not on a computer anyways. Which is strange when you think about it, because, in person I can chat away and i make friends so easily…but, via  a computer screen? Maybe it is because it seems so impersonal…almost like those people do not really exist that makes it so awkward. As if I am speaking to a video-game character or something along those lines. I thought that maybe suiting as Rune would help me get better with conversation…but, today’s Omegle experience pretty much debunked that theory.

I have been looking forward to getting Rune for so long, just for the sake of trying out Omegle. It’s not even funny. I aw Pinkystylist doing it along with other populr YouTubers and I thought, why not? Maybe it was because it was a Monday…maybe it was because people might be at work and it was somewhat early. but I found myself getting skipped…like, a lot! Granted…now i know that my mic was not always working and my webcam was giving out a lot…but I was skipped. I would wave and talk, and type, but nothing ever came of it. And I guess it made me feel…down?
I was even skipped by a fellow Angel Dragon!

What was i doing wrong? At first I was thinking…”Is it me?” “Is it because I am talking?” “Is it my suit?” “Is it because I only have the head and don’t have any other parts or a squeaker?” I was getting frustrated, was feeling a bit annoyed…and then managed to find a fellow fur that was in the same spot as I was.

“I have been skipped by everyone but you!” he told me,“…and by the way, your fursuit is fabulous!” <—THIS. This right here is how you make friends ❤

Granted, I was not so mad that I had been skipped. but rather, I was mad because I felt like I was doing something wrong to get skipped. At first I could not speak to the first guy because he either did not speak or could not hear me to know what I was saying. I could not type because I can not wear my glasses in the fursuit and therefore can’t see. With the Angel Dragon I wondered if I seemed boring or maybe it was because I lacked a squeaker. So, the fact that someone was finally “excited” to be talking to me. It really brightened up my day.

…and talk we did.
We talked about furries and the hate they get, we talked about sexuality (in some small sense). How people think being a furry automatically means you are part of the perversion (which is not true), talked a little about Angel Dragons, and talked about Pokemon GO 🙂
Then we talked about Instagram and it was all in good fun. We also ended up finding each other again after our mics both gave out and then we talked some more having been skipped again by all the same people. Not to mention I ended up losing my screen capture footage which was no fun. All-in-all…most people would have seen this as a fail, but me, since I managed to meet one really nice person on there that I actually had fun talking to, I would consider this an Omegle-win if anything 😀

Thought I would start off your monday with some optimism and I have more stuff that I will come to post throughout the week. So no worries! Fursuit Friday will be as planned, and then I hopefully have a few more surprises for you coming up.

But, should I try Omegle again? Give it another shot to see people’s reactions? Should I try talking to other furries or should I just blank salte it and see who pops up? Also…what else would you like to see me do for videos? I have gotten some suggestions on topics. Right now I’m just trying to find the best way to record them so I can put them up on YouTube. Might grab some of my Angel Dragon pals and see if they are up for the challenge. Either way, any suggestion is helpful and appreciated…you can just drop those in the comment-section below.

Thanks so much guys for tuning in, for reading this blog and checking out my YouTube channel. I am super happy to have begun making videos again, and while they are not the greatest quality, they are still very fun to make! More coming soon, and as always, I will see you all in the next blog 😉

Rune’s Journey to being a Fursuit #3

Rune badge by AJ

***Rune Badge by: AJ Vengeant***

Happy Fursuit Friday everyone!!!

Normally for Friday I would be doing the “Fursuit Friday Feature” but, this week I have decided to do something a little  different and bring back the blogs where I update people on Rune becoming a Fursuit. This blog is not only a progress update, but it also talks about the steps involved in getting a Fursuit when commissioning one from a maker. as mentioned in previous posts like this (as sort of a disclaimer)—do NOT take my personal experience as how it always works for commissioning Fursuits and/or parts of a Fursuit. Every maker is different and every one of them work in their own way. Unfortunately, there are makers more reliable than others…so each experience will be different and unique, as will the quality of the product.

  • In the last blog:
—The last time I wrote about the progress on Rune,  the furring process on his head had just started and the fur had been laid over the face so that I could make sure that everything was in the right spot. But, there was still a long way to go at this point…and I would say this was mid-way to completion. Rune’s eyes still has to be done, fur had to be sewn and glued onto the foam, and, his mouth still required his teeth, his tongue, and the horns needed to be clothed as well. Still, this was the biggest update of them all up to this point, and, if you’re interested in seeing the previous steps leading up to this, you can check out the previous blog, right [[here]]

Rune foam head phase 7

  • Furring the ears:
—The ears began their furring phase on May 4th, and the reason they were done separately was because Rune’s ears were meant to be flexible. One of the things I was asked early on was whether or not I wanted to be able to bend and play with Rune’s ears, and naturally, I wanted them to wiggle and bend. So, the ears had to be furred separately, and, I was given a lovely update pic to make sure for the last time that all the patterns on the ears were in the right place!

Rune foam head phase 8

  • Shaving time!
—With the fur for the ears completed and in the right place, the fur for Rune’s face was placed over the foam head once more and shaving started on May 5th. this was just the initial shaving so that more details could be seen, patterns could be checked again, and, once more of the face was done, Rune’s fur would not cover up any new details and, it would be easier to work with this way.
Shaving is a very long process as it has to be done multiple times. All fur is bought very long, and it is hard on clippers. Also, Fursuit makers have to make sure not to shave too much which is why shaving is done a little at a time, checked over, and maybe shaved a little bit in-between certain stages so that everything looks clean in the end. It made me chuckle though because, looking at Rune before he was shaved, he was looking like one of those really shaggy dogs that you can not even see their eyes past all that hair XD

Rune foam head phase 9

  • Layering Rune’s mouth, horns, and nostrils:
—I got a message a little after the shaving stage asking me the details of Rune’s mouth (like what color the inside was, if he still wanted to have teeth, how many teeth I wanted added, as well as the color of Rune’s tongue, and etc). Then, on May 19th, Rune’s mouth had been lined with initial darker green color, and the nostrils had been lined with cloth as well. With the inner mouth lined, more progress could begin on the other parts of the mouth, and, with the nostrils lined, Rune’s face fur could now be added. Horns had also been covered with cloth as well which allowed the face fur to soon be added. He was coming together quite quickly!!!
—Since the horns had been covered with cloth and the nostrils were finished, the face fur could be added. But, in order to see the details of the horns and to make everything look cleaner and to see details properly, Rune was going to be shaved down a little bit more. The second round of shaving was done on May 25th, and while at first he was looking a little rough, Rune was coming together nicely and was looking a lot smoother the more shaving that was done and the more he was brushed out.

  • Eyes:
—Rune’s eyes were completed on May 27th, and my maker had to discuss with me what colors to use because of Rune’s various designs across the different artwork I had sent in via reference. Instead of just making it one way, my maker took the time to make 2 sets of eyes (one a lighter blue one a darker blue) and then they sent me a comparison pic to see which one I liked best.

We both agreed that the lighter eyes suited Rune better, and they were quickly installed. Luckily the other eyes could be used for later projects. also there was a few more updated pics of the shaving progress and another check on design, on the back horns (located on the back of the head) and etc to make sure that everything looked okay before the eyes were locked into place. Another cool feature on the eyes was that Rune would have “follow me eyes” which is an illusion. For those that do not know, follow-me eyes is where the eyes are pushed back farther in the head to create the illusion that they are looking at you no matter what direction you might be walking.

  • Tongue and teeth:
—After the last update, I ended up going on vacation, and, my maker ended up finding herself to be very busy. We kept communication open during this time since I still had one last payment of $100 to make. After awhile, she did find time to work on Rune again, and his teeth and tongue were put in on June 27th.
The maker asked if I wanted Rune’s tongue to remain flat or whether I wanted to add in some fluff to make it take up more of the mouth. But, being concerned with ventilation and the like within the fursuit head, and, not knowing exactly what a puffed-up tongue might look like, I decided to keep the tongue flat as to keep things simple. Plus, the tongue already looked good as-is, and, I did not want to mess that up and be difficult for my maker.
With this final update, the teeth and everything else being in place and lips added to make everything look more realistic…all that was left now was the neck piece for Rune and he would be complete!! The only thing I asked at this point was that Rune be shaved down just a tad bit more to which, my maker would do, but, we could not go much farther without the mesh being visible due to the fur being possibly too thin.

Rune fursuit head completion

  • Completion!!!
—Rune was completed two days after the last update and the modeling pics were sent to me on June 29th!!! Rune was finally completed and, he looked amazing!! As per my agreement with my maker, I sent the final payment of $100 to her, and she agreed to ship Rune ASAP and to get me a tracking number when she could. At this point, the waiting is the first part because you just get so excited!!!!

  • Shipping:
—Rune was shipped out on July 4th because there were holidays before that. Also, I had asked my maker to wait and ship Rune once I had come home…and I did not return home until right before the first of July. He shipped from Canada, so, you had to take into account that it had to go through different routes than if it were shipped in the US. When commissioning anyone for a fursuit or fursuit parts…make sure you take into account where they are located, and base your shipping time and prices based on that. For me, shipping was around $50 because it was coming from a different Country.

  • Unboxing Time!!!!
—Rune arrived safely to me on July 12th, 4-days sooner than originally expected! with the tracking number, I was able to see where he was traveling to and from, when he made it (checked in) and thus was able to plan when it was that I needed to be home so that I could accept the package. Rune showed up in really good condition, he was well packaged and the box was not ripped, smashed, or broken anywhere. Naturally, I got Rune’s head…but, I also got a lovely letter from the maker, a badge made by the maker, a lanyard for the badge if I could get it laminated (and I eventually will) as well as a wire brush for brushing out the head if it happened to get matted at all. All were very pleasant surprises and, I was able to get the unboxing on video while Skyping with some friends!

  • Maker Review:
—My maker was AJ Vengeant (AJKitty on FA) and, Rune was only the second Fursuit head they had ever made. Since this was not a professional maker, I was taking a risk…but I am in no way disappointed with the result Rune is perfect! What made AJ amazing to work with was the fact that she never acted like i was “pestering” her or “bothering” her when I had questions or I wanted a progress report on Rune. In fact, I only ever had to ask for a progress report twice, and that was just because I had been out of touch for a few weeks and was merely curious (but ever really concerned). AJ was amazing with communicating things with me. She told me when she had gotten a part-time job and said she would have less time to work on Rune, she informed me when making him was taking longer than planned and he would have to be finished in June/July rather than May (which was not even a problem since I was going on vacation anyways and not going to AC). Any time she had a question for me, she would message me immediately and if it concerned colors, then, she would pick out the colors and have me choose between 2-3 different ones to make sure we had the correct shade.

she did this for Rune’s fur, for his eyes, for the mouth, and for the tongue which was very nice. On top of that, even when I had not asked, she always told me when she was going to be taking a few days to work on Rune, and she also sent me all those lovely WIP photos so that I could see how Rune was coming along every step of the way until his completion. She was always a pleasure to work with and always answered my messages within the day unless she had work. I can honestly say that there was never a moment’s concern with this maker and Rune made it here A-OK without fear of being scammed or him never making it. So, 10/10 I would recommend this maker to anyone if ever she opens to people again for making fursuits/fursuit heads. Not to mention, she added in all those lovely gifts at no extra charge and it was such a lovely gesture and made me feel really appreciated as a customer!! Rune is sturdy and very fluffy. His ears wiggle and flop, and he is everything I could have hoped for. My chin is a tight fit, but, everything else is extremely comfortable, even if it does get very hot (as every Fursuit head does).  Vision in the suit is better than expected and is easy to slip on and off. S, def check them out if ever they are open for fursuits, and their art is really good as well. I know they occasionally do commissions of that nature as well…so I would def recommend you to invest in this artist!! 😀

AJ letter

  • Conclusion:
—So, Rune’s head is now finished and, I could not be happier! I do plan on making him into a fullsuit eventually that I want to wear to cons and the like. But, until I can afford it, I might just make him a partial for charity events and suiting in public. There is a def I have yet to learn about fursuiting and fursuit care…but luckily, YouTube has several guides and tutorials that have really helped me out.
Commission a fursuit or fursuit parts does not have to be a scary thing…and, when you see the steps that go into it, you can begin to see how much time it takes with one person working on the one project versus one or two people working on MULTIPLE projects at the same time. Also, now you can gauge how close to completion your own fursuit head might be by taking a look at mine, and what steps were taken in what order. Again, all makers are different and work at different paces with a different work ethic.

But, what do YOU think of Rune? I love him to bits, and I can’t wait to continue this fursuit journey with you…so thanks so much for all the support you all have given me, and thank you for tuning into my blog. It really does mean a lot! Fursuit Friday Feature will come back as planned next week…and until then, I will see you all in the next blog 😉

ASK ME ANYTHING!!! [New YouTube Channel]

It’s a box!!! But what is inside?!?

Rune’s Fursuit Head of course! It’s done, it’s here! He is perfect, and, I can’t wait to share him with all my readers for tomorrow’s blog!!!!

But…that’s not what this blog post is about…well…it sorta is, and sorta isn’t.

The real news is that Rune has a YouTube Channel now!!!

After getting his fursuit head done, I decided to go ahead and make Rune a YouTube Channel to talk about all things Furry-related. This Channel would also include photo slideshows from when I might eventually take Rune out in public, future Cons and Furmeets, as well as some short skits just in general! I have big plans for the Channel, and already I have myself 9 subscribers after posting the unboxing video of Rune!!!

So that’s where YOU come in.

For Rune’s first official video outside of the unboxing one, I would like to do a Q&A while wearing Rune’s head! I feel like this would be a nifty and fun way that my subscribers and myself could get to know one-another a lot better and maybe then it could set off my channel so that I can get more people leaving me feedback on how I can make even more entertaining content for you all!
So, ask me questions…it can be about anything you want…food, furries, both? TV, real life…Pokemon Go, Furries, Angel Dragons…you name it, and I’m willing to talk about it really. 😀

So, if you want to drop a question for me…you can either drop a comment on this blog, or head on over to my YouTube Channel ( and leave me a comment there!

Thank you so much for reading my blog, for tuning in, and for all your continued to support! As always, I will see you all in the next blog 😉
